Please share something you saw in your master teacher observation that you can use in your own classroom. It might be a teaching strategy, technology integration idea, a classroom management strategy, something that promotes high student engagement, a neat transition idea, or an assessment tool. Post as many thoughts as you can. We will talk about your ideas when we debrief.

Students have the opportunity to receive a letter of "MYSTERY BOX" by earning 45 minutes a day. When students talk during instruction, they lose a minute. If a student misbehaves, the whole class loses the opportunity to earn their letter for the day. When the students earn all 10 letters, a student picks a surprise out of the mystery box (the prizes are things such as karaoke day)

Conder:
1. The first teacher that I was able to observe had a great acronym posted in his classroom, which was consistently referenced. The acronym (M.U.S.I.C.) was broad enough to where it could cover a variety of behaviors, but specific enough to where there is no confusion. The expectations are very clear.
2. For the second half of the class, students were to work in groups to start a project. I liked that the teacher gave students the chance to pick their own groups, and if they were not able to do it in 30 seconds (first class could not, second class could) he assigned them groups. I thought this was a good chance for the students to take some leadership and synergize.
Round Top:
1. I was so impressed with how many procedures the kids immediately recognized with silent hand signals.
2. The teacher introduced a bassline to kindergarten with a song they had been working on, which I have never thought to do!
3. Student leaders led the warm-up, coming up with their own moves for the class to mirror to music that the teacher played form her computer (All You Need is Love).

Coach Jones at Polo Road does a great job with incorporating games into his fitness-gram testing. He sees classes for two days in a row. The first day he introduces the importance of the fitnessgram component and they play a game related to it, the second day he tests them in that fitnessgram component.
For example:
Today they talked about the heart and cardiovascular endurance and played two games that got their heart rate up.
Tomorrow they will run the PACER for fitness-gram. It keeps students actively engaged and gives them a reason to want to do their best in the PACER.

Ms. Jones at Gilbert Middle has student leaders take role at the start of each class so that she can jump right in to warming up the students. She incorporates a pop song into the "wake up and stretch" routine and it gets the students working together right from the start of class. Singing in a choir requires students to be in sync with each other and this was a fun way to help them "sync up" from the beginning. Students also got the opportunity to be the leaders in the physical warm ups during the pop song.

Today I observed Coach Shirmer, I was very inspired by him. It was a blessing to see what he has going on over there(great choice Mrs. O'Quinn). Procedures were established, cue words were used, high expectations for students. The atmosphere there was exciting, the students responded well. We bounced a lot of ideas off of each other, and it was refreshing to be able to know that he has the freedom and flexibility to teach in an instructive way and still meet/exceed the standards. I observed 3 lessons
k-football(handoff)
1- gymnastics-simple rolls, and jumping on the trampoline
2- balloon control- using the hand/body parts to hit the balloon and control it
The lessons were great and I learned a lot.

The main strategy that I will take back will be creating sketchbooks for each student. If not this year, I will definitely have each and every student create their own sketch book to plan ideas for current lessons.
