Describe the ecosystem and how your animal functions within it – what is your animal’s habitat? What role does your animal “play” – predator/prey/both – explain. They live in open habitats such as grasslands, tundra, and meadows. Most are found in sub-tropical habitat on the west coast. They are apex predators has they help regulate population of their prey.

What is your animal’s relationship to other animals in its ecosystem? Are there any other species closely related or in direct competition? Peregrine Falcons don't usually have any relationships with other species due to them being the main predator within their area. They are closely related to parrots and passerines.

What is the relationship to humans? How does your animal affect humans or how is your animal affected by humans? Could humans “live well” without the existence of your animal? Peregrine Falcons have been tamed by humans for their flgiht skills and hunting. Humans have killed thousands of peregrine falcons due to toxic spills in the air and humans can live well without peregrine falcons due to them not being such a high priority to humans.

I find it interesting that in certain areas of the US there are areas they live when not breeding. I wonder when they go there versus living in the West - both areas relatively warm in winter? Any other predators like eagles in same area? What exactly are their prey. Where do they nest? a few more details.
