In Moana the status quo is Moana growing up. Moana has always been attracted to the ocean but her dad doesn't allow her to go close to it in fear something bad will happen to her. This has been consistent throughout Moanas whole life.

Moanas Island is dying and she knows something is wrong. Moana has always felt a strong connection with the ocean and when the ocean calls for Moana to work to save it she jumps at the opportunity. This is her call to action.

Departure

Moanas grandma shows her the boats her people used to venture on that are hidden in a cave on the island. Moana then takes a small boat from the cave and leaves the island to try and save her village. This is her departing from the island.

Trials

On Moana's journey to save her village she crashes her boat on an Island and there encounters a man name Maui. After hardships in their relationship they eventually become Allies on the journey to save her village. While traveling across the ocean they come across pirate coconuts and a big crab named Tamatoa. Both of them are trying to steal the heart of tefiti. They are able to conquer them and continue their journey. These enemies just made Moana stronger

Approach

Moana and Maui prepare to get past burning Tefiti and return the Heart back to Tefiti. Maui is working on his hook skills while Moana works on her sailing skills. They are ready to defeat the lava Tefiti but in the first battle Maui breaks his fish hook, He yells at Moana and flies away. Moana is about to give up but sees her grandma's spirt which encourages her to not give up. So Moana is making a plan to go and defeat Tefiti. This is the approach because these are the leading steps to the final battle.

Treasure

After returning Tefiti's heart, Tefiti presents a new hook for Maui and a new boat for Moana. But those are not the only treasures. Moana and Maui have now restored all the islands and gave them life again which is a gift in and of itself. All these things together are the treasures because they are valuable to Moana.

Moana is assisted by her grandma in the begining of the movie. Her grandma tells her about the island dying and also shows her the ocean. She makes sure that Moana knows that the ocean chose her and also leads her to their villages ture history, which provides her a boat to travel the ocean. She is her mentor because she guides her to starting her journey but cannot go on it with her. While her grandma is not her only mentor she meets Maui that assists her along the journey.

Result

Once Moana restored Tefitie's heart, Maui and Moana say their goodbyes, and go their separate ways. Then Moana starts her journey home to the now restored island. Moana getting to return safely to her island is the result of restoring Tefitie's heart and bringing the island back to life.

Return

Moana's parents realize that the island is being restored and then look and see Moana on a boat returning home. The whole island is ecstatic to not just see Moana but also have their island alive again. This was Moanas return and everyone was happy about it.

Crisis

Moana´s ready and prepared to defeat Tefiti. She was doing good and has made it past her barrier, but Tefiti flipped her boat over and is about to destroy it. Then Maui flies in and is helping Moana out, even with a broken fish hook, which doesn't last long. Tefiti broke Maui's fish hook so he is unable to shape shift. Moana managed to get onto the island where Tefiti lays, but the only way to restore the island is to return the heart to Tefiti. Moana is able to restore the heart right before Tefiti is about to kill Maui. Since Moana restores the heart Maui is saved and Tefiti goes back to her original form.

New life

Since Moana returned the heart of Tefiti, the ocean is now safe to sail on. Moana returns home and uses her new knowledge that she learned from her time at sea to take the villagers on a new journey with her. Moana and the other villagers take their boats to set sail in search of new adventures.
