CAMILA ANDREA LOAIZA (THEORETICAL PERSPECTIVE)

The theory that I will use is the second language motivational self.
It was developed by Dörnyei (Dörnyei & Ushioda, 2011), and it was used to study how is motivation related to learn a second Language on three different aspects (which are named the Ideal L2 self, the Ought-to self, and L2 Learning experience). When the learner wants to speak a second language, the characteristics a learner should have to avoid negative learning results and the learning conditions.

This theory indicates for each aspect the following, the Ideal L2 self is the “L2-specific facet of one’s ‘ideal self’”, The Ought-to L2 self “concerns the attributes that one believes one ought to possess to meet expectations and to avoid possible negative outcomes”, and the L2 Learning experience concerns “situated, executive motives related to the immediate learning environment and experience” (Dörnyei, 2009: 29).

As applied to my topic, this theory holds that I would expect my independent variables like as teachers understand and identify the integrative and instrumental reasons as motivators in their students and the factors that creates motivation, to influence or explain the dependent variable which is about how students react to different roles or models that demonstrate the importance of learning a second language and the benefits from it and how this increases positive motivation. Because there is a clear relation between motivation and the results or develop of a second language skills.
We need to keep in mind that motivation is unstable even though the research is applied to the same people. In spite of the last, this theory shows the importance of motivation when learning a second language and how it is related the velocity a student learns or improves his skills.

Erik Emilio Cruz.

Dear Andrea, it is evident that he has based his theoretical perspective using the corresponding theory, and quite related to the topics of the course, the argument is interesting and the author also supports this point of view, although a quantitative research approach could be indicated to relate it to the subject of study of this task, because the subject could also be presented more with a qualitative approach.

I find interesting his perspective in the sense that the learning of a second language is strengthened with the motivation of the student and this is directly proportional to the learning.

The theory that I will use is Social Learning Theory. It was developed by Albert Bandura, and it was used to study the people behavior. This theory indicates that people learn from one another, via observation, imitation, and modeling Most human behavior is learned observationally through modeling: from observing others, one forms an idea of how new behaviors are performed, and on later occasions this coded information serves as a guide for action, Albert Bandura quote "In the social learning system, new patterns of behavior can be acquired through direct experience or by observing the behavior of others."

As applied to my topic, this theory holds that I would expect my independent variables: Family atmosphere, family communication, closest group of people (friends), to influence or explain the dependent variable: Consumption of drugs and psychoactive substances because theconsumption of psychoactive substances by young people depends on the context in the young person's life, their family relationships and the role of parents in their family nucleus, in addition to the groups of people the young person frequents and those who feel affinity or It is represented in them, this factors compend the personal relationships that the young have at day by day, in this gruops happen many behaviuors bad or good and this implies the future behaviuor of the young.

If the social groups of the child, their family and social context show behaviors of drug use, then the child adopted the behavior of psychoactive substance use and related behaviors.

This phenomenon occurs in all social classes, and the factors are varied, but more determining, are, in the independent variables, family relations, groups of friends and the context, in which it is maintained, according to the theory of social learning of albert bandura, the young learns of the behaviors that are observed in their environment and responses in an automatic and unconscious way, in cases where young people are related to the consumption of psychoactive substances are evident that they are in a context of abandonment , where parents do not pay attention to the childs behaviuor and young people are directly exposed to groups of friends who are also consumers, in addition to the continuous messages on social networks which encourage the consumption of these substances and the family economic situation which has a great influence on the consumption of these substances by Young.

The theory of social learning allows explaining why young people resort to drug consumption taking into account independent variables such as family relationships, social groups and social context. The consumption of drugs is a behavior that the child acquires to see the members of his family, friends and people who are related to this behavior.

The theory that I will use is functionalist theory. It was developed by Durkheim and it was used to study the ways that universal education serves the needs of society. This theory indicates that Functionalists first see education in its manifest role: conveying basic knowledge and skills to the next generation. As applied to my topic, this theory holds that I would expect my independent variable(s) to transmit core values and social control, follow schedules, follow directions, meet deadlines, and obey authority. To influence or explain the dependent variable(s) the most important value permeating the classroom is individualism, the ideology that advocates the liberty rights, or independent action, of the individual, because the curriculum helps students develop their identities and self‐esteem.

Erik Emilio Cruz.
Dear Juliana

Analyzed his theoretical perspective it is evident that he cites an author who argues the fundamental role in the education of the people, according to their independent variables are the values of the society that are applied to the dependent variables as the behaviors of the individuals, According to the theory, society is an organism in constant change which can regulate its own conflicts and irregularities, so in its perspective it is evident that the behavior of the individual and its adaptation to society depends on the society itself.

On the other hand, I wonder if this perspective could contribute to the implementation of quantitative research, because in my opinion it has more aspects that should be studied from a qualitative perspective.
