A horror caravan was a massive rounding up of Jews from the streets and many died  due to gunshots being fired.

Mrs. Gruber- Mrs. Gruber was a close friend of Riva and her family- she was like family to them until she , Mr. Gruber and her son Harry betrayed them  by joining the Nazis, taking their belongings and not helping them in any way. 

Saba- Saba was Riva's cousin. She was always happy and had a smile on her face until she turned stern and depressed when the Holocaust events occured.

Schmulek- Schmulek is Riva's caring friend. He was sent back to the ghetto after he was sent away by a drunk guard.

Laibele~ Rivas brother, who has tuberculosis.  He was the funny, and always had a joke to tell. He was hopeful that things will get better. He stays with Riva at home and always cheers her up. He died at the age of 13.
