To not stop and leave everything behind and instead carry it and show that you are strong in brave. In life you will go through stuff that will make you want to end stuff and not continue. But like the mom said  "Don't you fall now" keep going follow your dreams everything is possible. It's imagery since you know that the mom has been through obstacles and wants you to go through them but not to give up but to continue. And the stuff she went through to get where she is now. Therefore, this is a sign of imagery

And places with no carpet on the floor—Bare." The imagery is that the mother wants to tell her son that life isn't easy. There will always be many problems in life. Also the words in the text for example tacks, splinters, torn up board all represent the pain and issue the mother had to go through in her life. Also the the words " no crystal stair" can impact the reader because people can relate that life isn't all beauty and games. Therefore this shows the form of imagery that life is difficult for every person.

Life for me ain’t been no crystal stair.

It’s had tacks in it,

And splinters,

And boards torn up,

And places with no carpet on the floor—

Don’t you set down on the steps" this demonstrates the mother telling her son that times are going to get hard but don't run back; keep going. Going into dark

The form of imagery demonstrated is sight and touch as in the texts the words explain and elaborate on feeling and observation. This allows the reader to deeply feel and experience the exhaustion and struggle that the mother is explaining to her son about life. The evidence for sight also gives the reader insight to visualize and to envision her life and hardships through our own eyes. This imagery makes the reader see and feel the story and her life's adversities to be able to infer and conclude things about the poem. The reader is supposed to feel sympathy after being able to visualize and feel the mothers pain, the reader should be able to relate to any hardship they have ever experienced. The reader may also feel encouraged or motivated to keep going through tough times and not to give up because it gets better and may not feel alone about their pain and difficult life as everyone goes through things.

To not stop and quit but to get up and fight and push its shows that your not a quitter but a winner.

So boy, don’t you turn back". the meaning to this quote from the article is not going back to the past because the past always has dark times. sometimes you go ahead and know that you might get hurt in the future but you have to keep on going until you reach that light.

So boy, don’t you turn back." This is imagery because the mother is telling her son to not turn back on the struggles and problems that arise in your life. If you don't fight the problems, your situation will worsened and will consume your free life away slowly.
