         <description><![CDATA[<div>Lead contact: Gemma Lace<br>Programmes: ALL<br>Dates: TBC<br>Links: TBC<br><br>Both students AND staff will be invited to take part in this School wide initiative aiming to bring a little festive cheer, foster belonging and reinforce cohort identity.<br><br>This project will encourage subject associated submissions of cake based delightfulness. From brain buns to computer cakes, from team creations to individual submissions, an array of prizes will be up for grabs alongside a SEE bake of showcase that you won't forget......!<br><br>Submission deadlines and details to be confirmed, initial plans will involve promotion throughout Dec, submission deadline mid-Jan with a School wide event planned around Induction week. Prizes of up to £250 per category!!!          <description><![CDATA[<div>Lead contact: Sara Namvar<br>Programmes: Open to HANS<br>Dates: ongoing<br><br>General interest reading is a fantastic way to broaden your general knowledge, language skills and relax at the same time!<br><br>We now have four book clubs in HANS - two are student only clubs (reading <strong>Dracula</strong> and <strong>Never let me go</strong>), whilst two are supported by staff (Sara Namvar, reading T<strong>his is going to hurt</strong> and Danni Hinchcliffe reading <strong>into the wild</strong>).<br><br>We hope that established book clubs will be a means to continue engaging students over the Christmas break as new books are selected to read over Christmas.<br><br>Book purchases are funded by a <strong>SCELT</strong> award and any staff/student or student only groups wishing to start a book club can email me: <strong>s.namvar@salford.ac.uk</strong>.<br><br>The <strong>library</strong> are also an excellent source of general interest books - you can usually request up to four copies of loanable paperbacks and sometimes an e-copy.
