RoboSimian is more like an ape than a human, but however you classify it, it's a powerful machine. The robot can map its environment in 3D using lidar technology. It's extremely flexible and can go over rough terrain and undertake tasks that require dexterity.

Overall Summary

NASA uses a lot of robots to help us explore space! Some examples are the Robonaut, a human-like robot that can withstand any temperatures due to his suite, and the Sojourner mobile robot which has a rock boogie design and a top speed of 0.4m/min. Some benefits of robots include easy access to planets without losing human lives, the ability to pass outstanding obstacles a human may not be able to, withstanding extreme temperatures and much more. Some challenges are creating a robot with long lasting life and good quality reporting programs, the amount of resources needed and a valuable space to test may be unattainable. Our opinion is that a robot can reach around obstacles and through port holes with ease, possess a huge degree of fault tolerance and it can continue to operate with excellent dexterity even after several joints fail. Human advancement can easily depend on the progress of these robots.
