The night was cold and dark. The willow leaves, pale green and long, caressed the skin of her shoulders, her neck and her cheeks while she was walking by the river bank. She was hardly wearing her nightie, and her bare feet were leaving a trail of small footprints in the muddy land. Although her eyes were wide open, her mind was far away from this place and this moment.
