How is cultural difference contributing to miscommunication?

All of the members are from different countries, making the language they speak different from one another. Richard being a young white American grew up learning one way within the American school system and likes the idea of dividing the work and conquering it that way. He likes the idea of using a group message to communicate.
While Charles is a young man from Nigeria and is more worried about one of them not doing their part because he has a certain gpa he has to keep. Charles likes to take a leadership role which makes it hard for him to listen to others ideas. He like face-to-face communication and prefers not to talk over the phone or e-mail. Charles is also unable to work because of his citizenship making it hard for him to realize the time commitment that Richard has with his job.
Sofia really likes to use social media and technology to communicate with the group. She may also feel less capable to put her own opinion in while working with two other guys. She wants to come up with an idea that will work for the whole group and if they cannot come up with one soon she wants to work alone.
We think one of the biggest communication problems amongst this group of people is not being able to come up with a cohesive idea that'll work with each person and highlight their strengths. She is funding her own education.

What might be some ways to work through this difference--think about our readings for this week (Funds of Knowledge & Ways with Words)?

Communicate with each other how they work best and why due to their unique funds of knowledge, but also work to understand that there will have to be compromise due to people's schedules/differing opinions.

Also, working hard to make everyone feel heard and have their ideas and gifts utilized, as opposed to one person just getting their way.

Regarding Ways with Words: Because Sofia is less outspoken and doesn't feel as much of a need to dominate the group, it would be helpful for her to explain that because of that, she doesn't feel as heard or valued. She could try and find other ways to communicate that resonates more with the boys, but they also should acknowledge the natural ways they communicate and how that may stifle Sofia and try to adjust their communication styles accordingly.

- Time Conflicts: some have to work part-time, and others have extra-curricular activities
- Transportation: a student has to commute
- Education Barrier: all students have been taught differently
ex: Richard is very familiar with American Education. While Charles and Sofia are not familiar with the system, they were educated in South Korea and Nigeria.
- Communication barrier:
Not all like to talk face to face some prefer electronic communication
- Sofia feels that she isn't being heard because the boys seem uninterested on what she has to say about the project
- Motivation:
Richard isn't as worried about his grade due to the fact that he is fine with getting a C because work and extra activities
Sofia: She works hard to maintain her GPA
Charles: academic student also wants to maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

George is a young male, from Puerto Rico who has immigrant parents. His family moved here for a better opportunity for him and they ended up being a low class family. He grew up in a predominantly white neighborhood. He was raised in America, making his privilege of working during school a possibility because he is able to work as many hours as he wants. He prefers to talk on the phone and not use any other form of technology. He likes to be in charge of projects, and gets really upset when people disagree with him. He is a diligent student and is reaching for the goal of a 4.0 throughout his college career. George really likes to play sports, be independent, and work at the local cafe. He is the first family member to go to College and he wants to prove to his family that he is capable of doing good.

Potential Problems:
Charles would not like that he was trying to take over the group. Richard may not like the idea of talking on the phone and not using a group message. Sofia is neutral about him, but is skeptical about his ability to communicate efficiently.
