         <description><![CDATA[<div>“I am not what I am,” (1.1.62) the majority of manipulators are aware of how they are affecting and ruining the lives of other people through their actions. In William Shakespeare’s <em>Othello</em>, the Machiavellian villain Iago causes mayhem between multiple characters resulting in the play’s tragic ending. There is a lot of dispute over Iago’s true motives to bring the other characters down. Firstly, Iago’s true motives for his actions in the play begin because he is furious at Othello when he did not promote him to lieutenant. Secondly, Iago is evil for the sake of being evil, without any true intended motive. Lastly, Iago is lacking the satisfaction of living the life that Othello.&nbsp;Iago’s true motives for his actions in the play are that he is furious that he was not promoted to lieutenant, that he is evil for the sake of being evil, and that he is lacking satisfaction in his life. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>“Men in rage strike those that wish them best”,(2.3.242). In William Shakespeare’s <em>Othello</em>, the play revolved around Iago’s motives that resulted to Othello’s downfall. Although Iago failed to succeed with his plans he was able to manipulate characters like Othello and Roderigo, which later on affects evreyone in the play. Firstly, Iago’s ambition to be a lieutenant strengthens his motive to seek revenge. In addition, he tries to gain wealth by using people like Roderigo, by acting in his best interest. Lastly, Iago’s ambition and greed eventually leads him to seek revenge on Othello. In <em>Othello</em>, Iago’s motives are provoked by his greed and ambiton, which later on led to his desire for revenge resulting to his downfall.</div>]]></description>

The depending on the outcome, the motives can make or break a person. Just like in the play. Iago's decisions either resulted in him taking advantage or resulting his downfall. These being revenge and jealousy against Othello, as well as his greed for money.</div>]]></description>

First off, Othello chooses Cassio over Iago for the role of lieutenant. Secondly, Iago loves Othello too much, so he begins to have hatred towards him. Last but not least, Iago is a Machiavellian villain towards everyone, especially Othello. These three motives caused Iago to have his downfall.</div>]]></description>
