1) A small upper bedroom in the home of Reverend Samuel Parris, Salem, Massachusetts, in the spring of the year 1692.

2) To seek help from Reverand Hale to cure his daughter's hysterical disease.

3) We know that Abilgail Williams was dancing with a group of girls in the forest and she had an affair with John Proctor. When she confesses to him, he denies his love for her because he wanted to care for his sick wife. Her main motif in the woods with the girls is to plan kill Proctor's wife so that she could be with Proctor. The drinking of the charm is some sort of witchcraft which was just a cover-up so that she would not be found guilty over the murder of Proctor's wife and the girls would be her scapegoat.

1. The opening scene takes place in the small upper back room in the home of Reverend Samuel Parris. In the spring of the year 1692
2. Reverend Parris has send for Reverend Hale of Beverly to put a stop to the madness of the speculations of witchcraft.
10. The mood at the end of act one is scary and shocking because we had never predicted many people are involved with the Devil as suggested by Abigail. it is also scary because Abigail claims she has seen the Devil. The events at the end of act one foreshadows the many deaths by hanging that are about to occur to the accused of witchcraft.
