  • In this country the soil, people, and animals who bonded together, have been neglected, oppressed and pushed to the side by large industrial farms.
  • The earth and the atmosphere now experience mass dysfunction, the people endure mental and physical suffering and lack of belonging, as do the animals.
  • Because of this, programs such as Soul Fire Farm and Transfarmation have put in the work to provide equity by helping communities grow their own food, take care of the earth, or prevent harmful animal agriculture by replacing it with plant agriculture.
  • Research shows that it is better for soil health and human health when food is grown on smaller farms than mass produced on large farms, as this lessens carbon emission and pollution.
  • This work is important to me because I've been interested in how to reduce human / animal harm regarding how we view food and the importance of giving people accessible information about what they consume.
  • If we do this work, we can put more power and wealth in the hands of marginalized communities while also improving their physical and mental health.
