2. To ensure I continue to meet deadlines

Today I have researched further into BARB and Ofcom through MTV. I looked at and recorded viewing figures and comparing different monthly stats. I found the BARB website easy to navigate. I have started a bibliography where I will log all websites used for future reference. Another thing I did was set up a new Padlet page and set new SMART targets.

Diary Log:

Today I have researched further into MTV's audience and gathered a lot of statistics. I found it quite easy to find this information as MTV is a very popular company. With the researched I conducted yesterday with Ofcom & BARB, I have now presented this in an audience profile document and have listed all sources used in a bibliography. I feel the layout that I presented this in is very clear and easy for me to come back to and read over, however I could add a little more detail to my research along the way as it is always useful.

Diary Log: 

Today we went out and filmed audio and visual experiment where I was the presenter. We then edited this and uploaded to youtube. The locations that we chose were very effective and varied, we did this to give us an idea of how different places look and feel on camera. We also had a quick go of all job roles, to give us an idea of which one we would like to take up for the actual broadcast.

Diary Log:

Today we created questionnaires to gather ideas for our overall idea. It was created on survey monkey and this will be used to generate further ideas. We also looked at equipment and roles within a broadcast. We made notes and explained how green screens are used, and have decided that we will be very interested in using one. When at home, I will get friends and family to complete my questionnaire so that I have varied and fair results to work with. 

Diary Log: Today we have started to put ideas down onto our individual project proposal. We also have extended our primary research by analysing the results of our questionnaires that we conducted yesterday. These have helped me sculpt my idea in my proposal. From today, I now know what my individual idea to propose to the group will be, and I feel it is quite a good, current idea. Now that I know my role in the group, I can start to do individual research into how to act as presenter. To improve, I will complete more research analysis and log the results on the template document provided. Also, I will add to my individual project proposal and extend upon my idea for the broadcast.

Identify key pre production documents and the key elements required to meet near professional standards. (Risk assessment, production schedule, contingency plan, storyboard, script and minutes of meetings).

Diary Log:
Today we have finalised our job roles within the production Our final idea is a geek culture show that will be Directed and Produced by Ben, Filmed and Edited by Kristian and presented and researched by me. We have completed our first team meeting and decided on what we will work on next lesson. Now that we have our own job roles we can begin to research skills that will help us during production.

Diary Entry:

Today we were split into our job roles for the morning, and took part in a short quiz about female presenters. We then held a team meeting in our production teams and set each other research tasks. We sketched a quick plan of our floor plan for shooting and also conducted audio tests with the microphones. We decided that we will use the boom microphones during our broadcast because we picked up the skills to use them very quickly and results proved very effective. To improve, we will carry on researching at home and log our findings on the already made Google docs for all to see.

Diary Log:

Today we started thinking about location ideas, as well as coming up with more ideas for the production. This led to us making a start on individual scripts. Me being the presenter, I have the final say on what does go into the script and what does not. In our meeting we discussed potential topics to talk about.

Also, we looked at suitable language that we should / should not use whilst on air and came up with replacements. We have set each other research tasks to do at home and also to complete one pre production document each at home, mine being the storyboard. To improve, we will come together and set up a chart to present our ideas for the pilot episode. This way, we can easily see which ideas are good and which are not.

Diary:

Today we completed a lot of the pre production documents. These included storyboard. location list and a lot of work done to the script. We found and listed many possible songs that could be played in the background. Whilst completing the storyboard we thought about shot types and where the presenter will be standing. To improve we will all contribute by adding our ideas to the pre production documents, this will ultimately result in them being to the best quality possible whilst involving the whole group.
