Maths- needs to be instant and verbal. Green and pink comments are not relevant.
English- Comments are effective at the end of topics or at the end of a big write. More personal comments given in English about their work and questions to respond to.
For Spag and reading comments are more on the spot.
Science- Similar to math. For hexagons pink questions askes on the spot to extend. Feedback needs to be instant and verbal.

We decided as a team that the children will be responsible for marking the pictorial part of the marking label with the pink and green highlighters and the teacher will do the written part.

We will focus on two learning gears per term from next week instead of including all of them on our labels.

I carried out a quick experiment and allowed the children to 'pink' and 'green' their writing on Seesaw, the children responded well to but need more training. We decided as a year group this could be a potential activity down the line. Perhaps it could be something that is done weekly? A good suggestion is that the children could record verbal feedback on Seesaw, again perhaps weekly, after or before their work has been marked.

Agreed that the Pink and Purple pen work well when giving feedback.

The green at the end can seem really redundant, especially if things have been highlighted in green already - almost easier to just put in the side a quick bullet point as to why it's highlighted, instead of writing a green sentence at the end.

Discussed that all lessons start really differently in Year 6 - especially when coming from another lesson with another teacher - often the children don't have time to go back over feedback from previous lessons, proving that feedback needs to be instant and more beneficial when verbal.

All subjects have a different approach to feedback - eg maths and English. Maths is simply a right or wrong answer whereas English there are many ways to give feedback on different parts of the work, however the feedback policy is the same for all subjects?

Agreed that verbal feedback is working better for lower ability than pink pen questions in books. This term, middle ability and higher ability are able to work on pink pen questions more independently and is more beneficial now. Trialed seesaw for English verbal feedback and response from children was better and children were more engaged and responsive using Seesaw. Teachers can see benefit of using Seesaw for verbal and written feedback in Science and English. Gradual introduction to feedback on Seesaw would be useful - verbal then responding to pink questions.

Physical Education

During our meeting we agreed that we all use the following ways of giving feedback in PE.

1.Verbal Feedback is the most common type of feedback used during PE lessons.

2. Visual feedback: By recording the children on a iPad, then analyzing what they do right and wrong, giving feedback on how to better their technique or pointing out what they do really well.

3. Peer/self assessment: We use the following assessment for learning during PE lessons - 1. Traffic cone assessment 2. Assessment ladder (1-10) 3. Thumbs up, Fist thumbs down 4. Brain bin 5. Solo Taxonomy

4. Secondary
In Secondary we follow the School Book Marking Policy

1. Verbal feedback is the the most direct way of letting the students know about their performance.

2. Group assessment. The students observe their classmates work/performance and give back a constructive feedback by giving 1 positive comment and 1 comment on what needs to be improved.

3. Self evaluation.
The students are asked to comment on their performance and what they could have done better.

4. Visual feedback.
We record the class on the Ipad and let them watch on the smart board their performance. The children can comment on whether everyone played synchronized together, played rhythmically etc.

5. Written feedback.
In KS2 we give feedback by marking their worksheets music staff boards when composing music.
