There is still the demonization of Black people in the media today. It is not presented in the bold ways like back then, but rather in subtle micro aggressions. Our country today struggles to even stay on the same side when it comes to basic racial issues. I'm glad that there are some whites who see what we experience and want to help fight with us. However, that will never be enough to stop racial inequality for good. I honestly believe, what Morgan Freeman once said. "If we stop calling people black man or black woman, and just call them a man or a woman. Racial inequality wouldn't exist." The reason why it´s to know history to not repeat it and make the same mistakes, black history month specifically talks about not just the achievement that African american figures made but what were their challenges and their own experiences which is something that everyone should understand about. I have known for a long time how unjust the system is, unfortunately. But the leaders and activists out there, shining more light on the past and current injustices, make way for change to come about. 
More people do need to indeed learn what I have learned today. It may seem like common sense now, but many people never learned the truth behind our history, only the sugarcoated version of it that they read in textbooks.

I personally believe that they should show it so we can be educated on how horrendous and intolerant people were back then.
