I started the Term by going over our Essential Agreement again, just to remind students of our classroom expectations. It was a good way to get them on course for the term.

Going to start a structured playtime session today after Recess 2. Students will engage in games or activities each Wednesday in order to promote the idea of more playtime. Kids are very excited to be back. I have now started doing a "morning meeting" 1st period (similar to CT). It's been a great way to focus on English skills, learner profiles, conversation and a way to get to know the kids better. 

G1A are now officially on RAZ Kids and they are very excited about that!

Elementary have been responding well to the new introduction of formalized spelling and grammar in their ESL blocks.

"Charades" for iPad also works as a tool for creating vocab flashcards, not only spelling, as G7 discovered. Japanese and English for the same word can be put on the same card together, so the watching students read the Japanese word and the student with the iPad has to respond with the English word (and spell it, for combined practice).

Junior high is definitely struggling to get back into the habit of keeping up with homework and deadlines. Summer vacation definitely dealt a blow to their self-management, time-management, and responsibility.

To quote G7 Miyuri's journal: "I was lead a very slovenly summer break, I need to correct it."
