"How Soon Is Now?" by The Smiths relates to The Outsiders because it is a song about being misunderstood. In line four of the second verse, the lyric says, "I am human and I need to be loved, just like everybody else does." This line is representative of the Greasers' desire to feel needed by each other and wanted by society.

"How They Remember You" by Rascal Flatts relates to the Outsiders because it talks about never giving up. In the third verse, it says: "Did you stand or did you fall? Build a bridge or build a wall?" This relates to "The Outsiders" because in the story, Ponyboy and Johnny never gave up. After Johnny killed Bob, they didn't give in and turn themselves into the police. They escaped to the country and kept living, and didn't give up, no matter how hard (and boring ) living in the old church was.

This relates to Johnny and Ponyboy running away after Johnny kills Bob because they have to stay hidden away from society so they don't get caught.

"Come a Little Closer" by Cage The Elephant relates to "The Outsiders" because the song has many lines talking on how your only so far from the truth the outside is all you see. As stated in the text "Come a little closer then you'll see" just like Ponyboy stated the socs put up a wall. I believe the socs have their issues but don't show the emotion putting up a wall. Only the others understand they stick together since they understand each other. Like when Bob died they stuck up and make war.

In this song the lyrics are really sad and reflective of what happened in past events and I think that really relates to Ponyboy and Johnny's situation. I know Dally has already come for them, but it must be so hard to live with the fact that you killed a human person. It's almost as if when you are in the moment and Johnny just killed him that he was doing the right thing, but after something that big happens to a person, you can really doubt what you have done. It seems as though everyone in this book is hurting, and I think this song represented everyone's pain all at once, which is really cool and really depressing at the same time. #montagescene.

In the song “Teeth” by 5 seconds of summer, I noticed that the lyrics in the song relates to The Outsiders. In a more detailed answer, I see some relation to how Ponyboy sees Darry. In the song the lyrics say “Fight so dirty but your love is so sweet,” which kind of explains Darry's personality. He cares for Ponyboy, as in, feeds him and becomes the parent figure, but he is also a little mean. He “pushes” Ponyboy too much.

"Count on me" by Bruno Mars relates to "The Outsiders" because it is a song about counting on each other. In line 6 of the pre-chorus and line 7-8 of the chorus, the lyric says, "When we are called to help our friend in need. You can count on me like one, two three, I'll be there." This line is representative of the Greaser's strong relationship with each other. In addition the song also represents the time the Greaser's scared the Socs away and the time when Johnny killed for Ponyboy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hN5WMvtzaD8
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lFHLUUewRa8
