This website is great and explains the Ku Klux Klan very well. I enjoyed the straightforward explanation and layout. It made it possible to learn a lot of interesting facts. Although, it is not too complex and leaves me with many questions about this hate group. Overall, this is a solid website with many benefits.

I like this website because it goes in depth on the history and background of the Ku Klux Klan. It starts off with the background and founding of the KKK and proceeds to move toward the violence and terrible deeds done in the south. It is good because it goes over the major events in but not into too much detail.

This is a political cartoon of a KKK member standing on the top of the United States casting a large shadow over much of the country. This is showing how the KKK is taking over the U.S. The big figure symbolized how big of a problem the KKK is becoming. Back then this cartoon was much more important because the KKK was everywhere. That means the shadow of the member would be over the entirety of the country instead of just over a portion. It also hints that America as a whole need to make a stop or else the KKK would take over.

This is the cover of a newspaper article by the KKK. It was inviting people to come and listen to a lecture by one of the Grand Wizards of the KKK. This is an example of the saying "Don't judge a book by it's cover." I think this because the article looks very welcoming and friendly but in reality it was the opposite. It was articles like these that the KKK used to trap civilians of the United States. They would go to these events and begin to believe in what the KKK were spreading. This is how they became

This primary source is a video of a large group of Ku Klux Klan members marching down Pennsylvania Ave. It shows the mass quantity of people involved in this violent hate group. They were marching to protest and attempt to lure in new members. They had many parades in order to gain power and relevancy. This video is scary because it shows their power. I think it is unfortunate these events occurred. These marches would have been hard to prevent due to freedom of speech.

The Ku Klux Klan was founded by Confederate veterans in Pulaski, Tennessee in 1866. The words "ku" and "klux" are derived from the greek word "kyklos" meaning circle. The Klan consistently met and attempted to form an "Invisible Empire of the South", led by the first Grand Wizard, Nathan Bedford Forrest. The hierarchy of the Klan went in this order from lowest to highest rank: grand cyclops, grand titan, grand dragon, and grand wizard. The klan extended into almost every southern state by 1870. It waged and underground campaign for intimidation against all black and white republican leaders. The klan was also a supporter of the white public's resistance to republican reconstruction and policies allowing political and economic equality for blacks. The klan was revived in the early 1900's . It staged rallies against immigrants, Catholics, Jews, Blacks, and organized labor. The 1960's also saw a surge of KKK movement. There were bombings of black schools churches, and violence against black and white activists in the south. That is the background of the KKK.

Paragraph 2 Effect on Society in America.

The Ku Klux Klan made a tremendous effect on America and is still prevalent today. It is one of the worst hate groups of fall time. It has created a terrible fear for many African-Americans, however the threat is no where as concerning nowadays. This group was founded in response to rights given to the black population. White supremacists affected black culture in an awful way. Their negativity towards other races and religions give them a horrendous reputation. They have influenced many people in the United States today. KKK groups still exist and have come to light in recent news. Hopefully, this will not live on forever but it has for almost two hundred years. Racism has always been an issue in the United States. Overall, the KKK has provided a poor effect on the nation. In conclusion. These hate groups should be banished to prevent future disasters and issues.
