Erickson’s first stage is Trust vs Mistrust. This is an important stage in infancy because it is a relationship that infants need to build with their caregiver. It is very important for infants to trust their caregivers at such a young age. My resolution was trust because I grew up in a safe and secure household. I have a lot of trust for my mom.

Erickson’s second stage is Autonomy vs Shame/Doubt. In this stage children begin to develop a balance between self-determination and control by others. Autonomy is important because it helps build confidence in the child and make them feel trusted just like the first stage. My resolution was Autonomy because my mom told me that I would always like to do things independently or on my own. My mom told me that whenever we went to a park, she said that I always wanted to put my shoes by myself even if they were on the wrong foot.

Erikson’s third stage is Initiative vs Guilt. In this stage children start to develop and do what they want to do. When a child always feels guilty for something they did or said that affects their moral development. The reason I say this is because if children don’t develop initiative at ages 3-5 then that means that there’s something that doesn’t allow them to develop it, which could be guilt, they are scared to try new things because they think that they are going to do something wrong. My resolution is Initiative because I remember when I was in kindergarten, I always wanted to try something new. I was never scared to if I did something wrong because my parents always told me that it is okay to make mistakes.

Erikson’s fourth stage is Industry vs Inferiority. In this stage children develop industry which involves learning how to work hard to achieve goals. Inferiority is when a child feels low in motivation and self-esteem. It is not good if a child develops inferiority because that will affect children as they get older and go to middle school. My resolution is Industry because I always like to work very hard when it comes to schoolwork or anything that has to do with school. In middle school one of my goals was to never let myself down if I got a bad grade on an assignment. If I failed, I got myself up and worked harder and harder.

Erikson’s fifth stage is Identity vs Confusion. In this stage teens develop a sense of who they are and what role they play in society. Confusion can be prevented if the children/teen have developed good trust, initiative with their parents. My resolution is Identity I was able and can know who I am and who I identify as. I feel that the key to identity and not confusion is trust. Trust is something that helped and has helped me throughout my life.

Erikson’s sixth stage is Intimacy vs Isolation. In this stage young adults start to develop deep bonds/relationships with other people. Then there’s isolation many people can develop isolation which makes them grow feelings of loneliness and just want to be alone. I think my resolution will be intimacy because I don’t see myself isolating from people, I want to create a strong, deep relationship with someone.

Erikson’s seventh stage is Generativity vs Stagnation. In this stage older adults can develop generativity which is caring for the next generation. There is also Stagnation, which is the opposite of Genericity, people who develop stagnation really don’t involve in anything that will help society. I think my resolution will be developing Generality because I want to do the same that has been done to me. I want to help the next generation to succeed.

Erikson’s eighth stage is Integrity vs Despair. In this stage elderly people either develop integrity which is remembering/reflecting all the things they did in life and live happy, or they can develop despair which is always regretting what they did in life and wishing they did more. I think my resolution will be Integrity because I want to be happy and as of now, I want to enjoy life and live it to the fullest so when I get older I remember all the things I did with my family.
