When I first heard Laissez Faire I had no idea what it meant. Laissez Faire basically means the government won't interfere with businesses. Government during the industrial revolution, and before it as well. Until the businesses got too big, so we switched to a hands on government.

Did you know, standard time because of railroads? Back in the day, every city/town had their own local time. People riding the railroad were confused when the train arrived later/earlier than what was specified. People were not too accepting of local time at first, but people eventually got used to it.

Before the transcontinental railroad was built, you would need to travel the dangerous great plains for months! Once it was built you could travel from the east coast to the west coast in mere days. Why risk your lives when you could travel in comfort. It also avoids the dangers within the great plains.
