When the 1930's came more women got jobs to help support their families. The employment rate for women went up by 24% meaning it went from about 10 million women working to about 13 million women working. On 15% of married women were working whereas 50% of single women were employed. The jobs women usually had were nursing, teaching, and domestic work and on average were under payed and didn't have many benefits. Around 400,000 Mexican-American moved for America back to Mexico due to lack of jobs.
