Margaret is an ordinary 11 year old girl that just moved from New York to New Jersey with her mom and dad. She's just started 6th grade, and has her first male teacher, while on her journey to choose her own religion.

Throughout the book Margaret feels concerned that she isn't fitting society standards. She also struggles with finging friends with whom she can be her true self.

I would give this book 4 stars. It was short and sweet. The book was an easy read and didn't take a lot of thinking, it reminded me of listening to a story. But it also got a little boring at times, there wasn't any action so I never really got fully into it and would forget about it at times. I think it's a cute book to read at least once.

The book is set in the 70's, around fall during school year. Our protagonist just moved too the suburb from the city.

I chose the songs play that funky music, God must hate me, and roar. I mostly chose "play that funky music" by: Wild Cherry because it is a very popular song from the 70's which is when the book is based.

I felt like the song "God must hate me" by: Catie Turner fits throughout the whole book due too Margaret feeling stuck and out of place (like most kids) but especially with her decision on which religion too follow.

I chose "Roar" by Katy Perry because I think its an upbeat and uplifting song, also I loved it when i was younger.

Throughout the book she consistently speaks to God trying to find comfort and understanding.
