Why do we study TTTC?

We study literature by reading books or passages that are full of meaning to be able to break them apart and gather information. By reading all of these important types of books, we learn different ways to express our feelings and ways to improve our writing. We study TTTC because of the messages it sends and to be able to break down a book and learn about its meanings, in this one there were many topics about being exposed to such terror at a young age can change you as a person quickly.
2. How are we affected by literary texts in various ways? How are we impacted by TTTC?
We are affected by literary texts in the way that we get so much knowledge, there are so many things to break down and with literary texts, you have to find them and see what the author is trying to send across to the readers. We are impacted by TTTC by learning about morality and early traumatic experiences.

3. How does the structure and style of TTTC affect its meaning?
The way it is structured and styled affects its meaning because, in any book, the person who is describing the scene or how the story is set up is a way that shows different types of meanings and has a different message from everyone involved. Also, its overall tone is important for the readers to understand what the book is saying.

Linda Krumholz claims (in "The Ghosts of Slavery: Historical Recovery in Toni Morrison’s Beloved") that finding a voice for the thoughts and experiences of women is central to the "healing," historical recovery theme and structure of the book. According to Krumholz, Morrison’s novel "adapts techniques from modernist novels, such as the fragmentation of the plot and shifting narrative voice, to compel the reader to actively construct an interpretive framework" (109). How does the novel specifically address issues of gender, writing and power? How does the structure and style of the novel give voice to "the thoughts of the women of 124, unspeakable thoughts, unspoken" (Beloved 199)?
Gender in this novel is shown with Paul D and his fear of not being a real man, then there is also a lot of ways identity is broken through the traumas. There is also a topic of many traumas that occurred that never even got brought up for justice, they just lived with it.

1) What motifs/techniques does Camus explore that you find interesting?
The motifs and techniques used by Camus that I find interesting are the way the universe is used to portray Meursault's feelings towards life. The way the sun symbolizes life pressure and the heat shows his uncomfortable feelings about life experiences is a way that was very informational to me and I enjoyed reading with that perspective.
Perspective:
A theme I would study further is based on the question, "How do authors create and control
voice and perspective?", I believe in the book depending on how you view things, some may view Meursault as the worst person ever, while some may have some empathy for him and feel he is misunderstood or needs help. Perspective is important for this as depending on whayt type of person you are, you may feel differently about Meursault as a person.

What motifs/themes does Duffy explore that you find interesting?
The motifs and themes that Carol Ann Duffy explores that are most interesting to me is the relationship of a child to their parent. In "Whoever She Was ", "In Mrs. Tilschers Class", "Before You Were Mine", and "Little Red Cap" Duffy explores the themes of childhood and growing up. In different ways, she highlights the love of parental relationships or the reality of growing up.
Line of inquiry:
the line of inquiry I'm going to off of is, "What role does the identity of a reader play in the act of appreciation and interpretation?"
The role of the reader's identity when reading and interpreting a poem is important in the way that they may be able to relate to the scenarios being written about, or if they don't understand the topic they may not have as much appreciation for the theme.

1) The motif explored by Dillard that interested me was her use of land. I find it interesting how she was able to connect geography and maps to represent childhood and growing up with a deeper understanding of the world you're in.

2) A line of inquiry to explore would be communication and creativity because of the way that Dillard uses techniques to convey humor and reflection on childhood memories. She uses an adult perspective on childhood actitvites to show readers growth in her lifetime.
