In classic pigeon form, he gets very angry and throws a tantrum and then realizes he doesn’t really want a puppy after all.

I decided to chose taking responsibility as my big idea because I feel that this is an important topic for students. If students learn this idea now, then it will be easier for them to work through their mistakes and become a stronger individual. I think all of these books teach students a lesson about taking responsibility. Reading a book to students is much more meaningful and engaging rather than just talking about a topic. Meaningful conversations about responsibility can occur after a book is read. Each of these books will allow students to start to form their own opinions about responsibility. I believe that students will enjoy hearing each of these books being read and they will be able to learn about an important characteristic as I am reading. The students will get the information they need to know from the books and this will help them successfully complete each of the activities to follow.
