         <description><![CDATA[<div>*Top 5<br>Summary: Harry, a young wizard, attends Hogwarts, a school for witches and wizards, long after his parents were killed by Voldemort, the famous, evil wizard, when Harry was a baby. Harry is also famous because he survived Voldemort. This book tells Harry's adventures with his friends and their attempt to keep the Sorcerer's Stone safe from evil wizards.<br><br>Importance: This book teaches children that if you are brave and stand up to bad people, that you can defeat them because you have good on your side. Additionally, Rowling shows how strong love is.<br><br>Theme: In the book, Harry must be brave to stand up to Malfoy and also to defeat Voldemort.</div>]]></description>

If you are brave and believe in yourself, you can do anything you set your mind to.<br><br>Theme: Ella had to be brave in order to get through any day, but she had to be particularly brave to break her enchantment so that she could save her family and friends from harm.</div>]]></description>

Cally meets new friends and must learn to adjust to her new home and life without her mother.<br><br>Importance: This book tackles the difficult topic of death and illustrates the process of being able to move on. In particular, this book shows that it is okay to not be okay after the death of a loved one and that people process and handle death in different ways.<br><br>Theme: This book involves the loss of a loved one and shows how, with the strength of love, people can go through the steps of grief and come out the other side okay.</div>]]></description>

Because he looks different from everyone else, August must endure the harsh looks and comments that his peers make.<br><br>Importance: This book teaches children that no matter our differences, we should be nice to everyone. Palacio exemplifies that one action, kind or mean, can make or break someone's day. That's why you should always be nice to others and hope that they treat you with the same respect.<br><br>Theme: Since Jack and Summer were nice to August from the very beginning of school, August's school experience and outlook were greatly altered for the better. Additionally, their kindness lead to long lasting friendships with August and each other.</div>]]></description>

It teaches children to appreciate their family and everything that they have been given.<br><br>Theme: Edward only learns to love after he loses people who have been generous to him. He realizes that when he feels sad and misses them, that he actually loved them and is heartbroken from being separated from those he loves.</div>]]></description>

This gives the reader a huge amount of fictional responsibility and teaches them to follow directions.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Summary: This picture book is about Winkle and Nap, two dogs that find a bone and ask strangers for help in deciding who the bone belongs to.<br><br>Importance: This book teaches children the importance of sharing and friendship. Although friends may fight sometimes, they must work to resolve their issues and differences, which is often done through the act of sharing.<br><br>Theme: The dispute over who owned the bone the two dogs found could have resulted in a huge fight and loss of friendship. But instead, the dogs remembered their friendship and decided to share instead of fighting. The strength of their friendship helped them resolve this difficult decision.</div>]]></description>

Additionally, this book teaches kids about the value of friendship, loyalty, and kindness.<br><br>Theme: This book demonstrates how kindness is often rewarded with kindness itself. Furthermore, Watson illustrates how amazing friendships cannot be broken and are one of the best things a person could ask for.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Summary: A young girl searches for owls in the forest during the night with her father.<br><br>Importance: This book shows the great rewards that often follow acts of bravery and self-restraint. But Yolen made sure to note that not every great act receives a reward. This exemplifies how even if you do everything right, life can be unfair, and we must be okay with that.<br><br>Theme: The little girl shows bravery because this is her first time walking through the woods at night and there are lots of scary shadows  and she must be quiet so as not to scare the owls away.</div>]]></description>

Everything the young mouse gives up is valuable beyond words, but he still helps the animals in need. This shows the true meaning of kindness, and it is this kindness that leads to the friendships the little mouse makes with the animals he meets.</div>]]></description>
