'Twas the night on Halloween and all through the haunted house not a creature was stirring, except for the three kids walking around outside. The house gave off an eerie, chilling, spooky glow. As the three children fearfully stepped closer to the old rotten house, rain descended upon the ill fated kids. One of the kids, Billy, cautious but confidently opened the moldy, rancid door. Some the ancient wood crumpled as he pulled on it. It felt to him as if it was cemented to the decrepit porch. One of the other brave children decided to peek inside. They all agreed to inch closer into the house. Their only flashlight died as the door slammed closed behind them. All of the sudden something hit James (one of the boys) in the face, it looked like an egg, a raccoon egg...

Pieces of glass windows were broken where crows were living, the twisted old trees were overgrown and not a single person had been in the house in years. On the night of a full moon, four kids walked up to the house, excited to go exploring.

The trees whistling and crows chirping, there stood a old abandoned house with it falling to pieces. It was Halloween night, kids Mike and Alex coming up to the house they were frighted and kept pushing one another in front of them to ring the door bell. Mike walked up on to the deck with Alex behind him and there was no light, pitch black, and BANG, the door fly's opens with bats coming out with the door wide open. They were scared to death, but even more eager to go inside. Then they saw a light, in the middle of the room. As they walked inside the floor was creaking and then they heard something to the left of them.

The long forgotten house that stood on Bryer Lane had been abandoned for just over two years. Bats flew over head and the wind danced through the bare trees. The windows were cracked and broken, and the porch was nearly falling apart. However, a small light was flickering near the doorway with children approaching the doorstep. It was Halloween night and the moonlight shone on the streets. As children walked up to the doorstep they became frightened and ran away. Although there was one child that stayed. His name was Jonathan and he began walking up the steps towards the old wooden door. The stairs let out a screech as Jonathan walked up the steps and rang the doorbell. Suddenly, the front door flew open and BOOM! There stood the opening to the home with moonlight flooding in through the windows. When Jonathan entered the house, a small light came on from down the hallway and he heard a loud cackle from a small, pitch black room on the left and decided to see what lied inside.

As they walked closer a little bit of sense was knocked into Paige. She exclaimed to Zay that they should not go to the house that looks like it will eat them. Zay trying to impress her said " why not its funny and will make a good story?" she settled and walked a little closer before turning back and said " ill just wait at the house with the rest you go get eaten by whatever is in their" Zay laughed it off and walked up to the house and up the busted creaky steps. Once he was at the door he rang the door bell knocked on the door than just broke in. As he walked in he saw many creepy paintings that had eyes that followed him and he herd little children laughing like the demonic demons they are.

But something seemed off this Halloween and one kid knew that for certain and his name is Lucas. Lucas is a 13 year old boy with messy blond hair and dark green eyes, and this year his costume was chucky. It was a normal night, he was trick or treating with his friends but then they came across a different type of house. Lucas and his friends walked up to the front door but when they went to knock the door it opened by itself. Lucas's friends shivered and backed up then eventually ran off no where to be seen. Lucas decided to walk into the house. When he walked in there were spider webs everywhere, and the furniture that was there was covered in dust. Then all of a sudden he heard a noise, "creeeak".

The broken down house creaked in the slight gust of wind. Split second shadows could be seen in the windows, disappearing right after being seen. Everyone avoided that house, however, tonight, on halloween, a group of children were growing closer to the rotting door. They cautiously stepped on the deck, avoiding the holes and sticks strewn across it. They found the door locked, but with one push it fell, the century old, weathered wood not lasting against the force. Inside it smelled of mold and the air held an unnatural chill. Bits of broken glass and ruined furniture were everywhere, some blocking the hallway. The kids managed to move the heavy items and continue deeper into the house. A screech echoed through the halls as a dark animal flew out the open doorway. A lightbulb flickered on. "Huh, I thought there was no electricity here anymore. Weird," one of the children commented. "Relax, it was probably just a power surge or something. Lets keep going," Another responded. And with that, they continued deeper in the old house. They were just another three children never to come out, trapped within the rotting walls for the rest of time.

It was a cold, windy night. Lisa and her brother Josh had been walking for hours to get to this place, and they finally made it. The windows on the house were shattered, cobwebs everywhere, they were in the middle of nowhere. The sky grew darker, but there was still a ray of moonlight that shined over the terrifying house. "I don't want to!" Lisa said in a shaking voice. "Cmon Lisa don't be a baby just go in the house for minute and then come right back out. You have to it was the dare." Josh said as he laughed. Lisa began to worry, as she wasn't sure of the way home, and she knew her mother didn't know they were here. She began to walk toward the house and almost tripped on a small black cat. She caught a whiff of a foul smell but ignored it. Lisa came to the door, there were holes in the house and spiders everywhere. She spotted a broken table out of the corner of her eye. Josh was still far away from the house laughing and rolling his eyes. When she entered the house she couldn't believe her eyes. What she saw was something she could never forget. She ran out of the house screaming and crying, looking for Josh, but he was nowhere to be found.

They ran throughout the neighborhood with group of kids collecting candy, but one house stood out more than the other house. The other houses had some cheesy Halloween decorations, some fake spiders and cobwebs. But this house, almost looked like it was really haunted. They started walking away from the giant group of kids to enter the spooky looking house to see if there was any candy. The other kids hadn't noticed so no one had tried to stop them to tell them what was about to happen. They cautiously creeped up to the house, making sure they weren't going to get caught for trespassing. The wooden floors creaked, the chandelier slightly swung, the old furniture was covered with plastic. Walking upstairs, to one of the rooms with the light on, unaware of what happened 3 months before they moved into their new house.

The two lights that were working on the second floor gave them an eerie feeling, as if it were lurking deep into their souls and sucking every secret they've kept out of them. Crooked, twisted branches coiled around the house, casting pointy shadows on the rooting wood walls. Large ebony crows sat on the branches, their heads twitching to the sides as they eyed the two men that drew forward. One crowed, as if it were cackling for their foolishness, and soon the whole flock was laughing with it. The moon cowered behind the misty clouds in the sky. It couldn't bear to see what would happen to these boys. A single lanky black cat strode by, and shot them a glare. Its flame-orange eyes reflected their petrified expressions, and its slender back arched up as its ears drew flat against its head. It hissed, then scurried off. The two men exchanged glances at each other and hesitated before finally stepping inside, the weight of dread crushing them even more.

This house isn't like any other house. In fact, it's almost like there was something living in it. You could hear strange noises coming from it throughout the day, but mostly at night. The trees would creek in the yard when wind blew, and crows would always be in the trees stalking the house. The moon was glistening in the background, with fog all around. As the new arrivals got to the house, they looked at each other with fearful looks. As the wind blew across John and Mary's face, they both shivered in fear. How will they be able to manage to spend the night at this scary old house? In the distance, they saw something lurking on the side of the house. It appeared to be black in color, and was walking stealthy along the yard. John started to walk closer when suddenly, it hissed at him and ran off into the distance, where it couldn't be seen anymore. John walked back over to Mary and said, "It was just a cat." Mary, who had a pale face now from the fear, took a deep breathe. They both looked up and saw crows flying up above with the moon shining on them. "We can do this. It's just one night. Let's just go in and unpack our stuff," said Mary. John nodded his head and they began to pick up their suitcases and started to walk up to the front door. As they crept closer and closer towards the door, they hear a loud crash. It sounded like something in the house fell. It shattered as it hit the floor. "Are you sure you want to do this?" Asked John. "Yes, I am sure." Mary replied. They opened the front door, and walked inside. As soon as they walked in, they both got the chills. It felt off, like someone or something was watching them. But, they continued to unpack their things. As soon as they finished, they heard something that appeared to be coming from upstairs. "There's no way I'm going up there to see what that noise is." Mary said. "Neither am I," said John. The lights started to flicker. Then, they heard a voice in the distance that sounded horrid. "Get out of my house!" it said. John and Mary both screamed and grabbed their things as fast as possible and ran out the door. Their hearts were beating fast, but they just kept running to their car. When they got into their car, they drove off as fast as possible. "We are never coming back here again!" exclaimed Mary. "Agreed." said John. They drove back home, on a pitch black street, with their hearts still racing. They both took a deep breathe when they arrived back to their house. They walked inside, and got ready for bed. The next morning, they both felt relieved. They were happy to be back home.

The wind was whistling, the old forgotten house. We had bought this house. we get much closer the moon was glistening as we walk towards the house, we get closer fog surrounding the house. Birds chirping, bats flying and screeching. Black cats hissing in the air. we see wolves in sight, we carefully walk, jay asks me "hey where did we get this house?" I reply "ebay...." We walk in the house, when we step in wood crackling. We walk up the stairs forgetting to close the door, then it SLAMS! we look back and see it was the wind as its still whistling at us. I walk up the stairs telling jay to stay down stairs, as i walk up there is more wood sounds. I see the rooms, I walk in one and say "Jay come up its clear" broken windows and cob webs scattered around this room. Jay goes in to a different one, no windows wind flying in, his door shuts, hes yelling "HELP! HELP! HELP!" My stomach started to twist into a knot, i open the door, he flew out the window, i fly back. The door shuts again, eerie and dark, we pull out our phones for a light, we go in my room no charger ports my phones at 1% we panicked, then the unthinkable happened my phone died and it turned dim. I walk around. We hear the door open, we hide under the bed. Wood making this mean screech. "sounds like a person" jay said to me. At this moment i new i should have locked the door. This person or animal shuts the door and sighs. We hear "i wonder if someone bought this house its been haunted for years, thats why we spend our Halloween here every year." We look at each other and relise its Halloween. This man sounded heavy, he was with his wife. The door opens again and they leave we thought. we look out the window nobody. we hear more whispering i happen to hear this "i thinks there is people up stairs" I hear loud wood foot steps, jay whispers to me "does this guy walk with cement shoes" i giggle. He hear another person with quiet foot steps strolling, wood still crackling. We hear the door open and stop breathing. Foots steps walking into the room wood crackling sounding like it was gonna break. We hear a loud bang and two people crying, the floor collapsed. They fell, we look down we hear them screeching in pain. We realize its two of our friends. We avoid the hole in the floor and walk out of the door, the front door opens, still a man and a women screeching in pain. We walk to the door and shut it. We walk to our friends. They say in pain "were you the two who made us fall?" We walk to them and they realize who we were.

The moon was the only source of light for miles. The children soon came up to an old house being consumed in fog. Shivering, they walked up the steps, every stair creaking as the stepped. Crows having conversations in the distance and frogs that croak every so often. As they came up to the door, the taller boy of the group confidently knocked. The other kids eyes widened, faces that were clearly confused and being trapped in a whirlpool of emotions. They were surprised at how assertive the boy was being. There faces soon came to a resting point as they realized no one was home. They all gave each other glances, communicating that they should go inside. As the tall boy opened the door, a loud creek noise erupted as the door slowly opened and widened the children's view of the inside. One by one, the 5 children cautiously stepped in with looks of fear, anxiety, and even complete calm for some. The house looked like it was about to collapse on top of them. Walls with paint peeling off, floors with broken wood and ripped up carpet, it looked like an animal had rummaged through here. They all collectively decided to split up and evenly explore. Two boys searching around the downstairs, and 3 girls upstairs looking around suspiciously. The tall boy walked around with authority, taking turns, opening cabinets, not paying much attention to what room he would walk into. He soon walked into the living room. Everyone soon gathered in the living room when they heard an ear splitting shriek come from him. When they soon reached the room, they'd wished they didn't sneak out that night.

As the fog from the cold winter night rolled in, shadows around them grew, fear struck, and they panicked, for almost 30 years no one has lived in this house, but every night lights around or in the house would go off, noises would crawl out of the dead shell once called home as if screaming for help, no one not even the adults would go near. As midnight grew close Jason and I walk towards the house, creeping past the broken rusted fence, by the small graveyard next to the house with the bodies of the owners past... up the splintered creaking stairs to the pine door with a cross carved into the decades old wood, Jason reached for the door, Open! The door swung, before Jason lay a single finger on the nob. In the hallway a broken bitter thing stands, watching. In all the year past no one ever thought that this was what awaited the disturbed souls who set foot in this house, in this hell. Jason and I turn and run, down the splintered creaking stairs, by the small graveyard next to the house with the bodies of the owners past, and through the old rusted gate, back to our houses. When we get back to our houses we tell our parents, we rant and describe the horrors that lay within the house, they looked at us like we were psychos. We plead, and we beg for them to listen, their standing does not vary, Jason and I give up. How long must we wait before someone else goes into the house, how long until someone else gets hurt? Jason and I do not speak of the creature in the house for days, days turn into weeks, weeks into month, and that into years... even now no one believes us, when the time strikes 12:00 on the winter solstice nearly 30 years later we return to the house, but this time Jason doesn't come back, at least not in one piece. And now I wonder to myself, why did Jason not scream when I clawed out his eyes...

New House, New Rules

The house sat in the darkness. Not a thing stirred. Footsteps could be heard coming closer to the houses property. A long-legged black cat sat in the window of the house. Claire and her older brother Addam walked up to the house. He had bought it off the internet, but hadn't realized how long ago those pictures were taken. She and Addam stood, looking at the house, suitcases in hand. It had been only a few years since thier parents had died in a car accident, and Addam was 18. He still had to look over Clair however, she was only 15. "Well," Addam started, "welcom home." He looked at Claire with the expression that read sorry and my bad at the same time. Claire just gave him a responding look of 'Really?' and then looked back towards the house. Crows sat in the trees and cawed as several bats flew out of the chimney. The black cat moved and made its way towards the to. Claire and her brother had noticed it and watched as it came closer. Something was off however. As the cat walked, it of course became larger as it got closer, but it also grew in size that wasn't normal. By the time the cat was infront of Claire and Addam, there was a tall woman, around the age of 20, who had long black hair and bright green eyes. Her skin was as pale as the moon and she wore all black clothing. She had a black top with fishnet sleeves, and black shorts with fishnet socks. The tall cat-woman also wore black combat boots. Her nails looked fake because of their point and sharpness, but Claire made the safe asumption that those were not fake at all. "I thought you would come," the woman began to speak, "My name is Aries, I am the owner of this house. I welcome you." Claire and addam stood in shock. The house was for sale, but apparently not. Aries' ears flicked and, apparently she had cat ears and tail, her tail swung from side to side in a gentle pattern. She flicked her tail once and then turned and started walking toward the house. She paused, looked back at the two siblings, and then motioned with her hand for them to follow. Claire stuttered and then came back to reality. She tugged Addam and they both followed the 20-year-old cat woman into their new home. "I have no clue how you may have lived in your old housing units, but this," Aries gestured to the haunted mansion house behind her, "is your new home. And with a new home, comes new rules."

It was the night of Halloween and children were out trick or treating, as we walked through the neighborhood in search of another house to go to we came across a house with a dark fog closing around it. The house gave me and my friend an eerie feeling and we began to walk away. CRASH! We heard coming from inside the house. As we attempted to walk back towards the house we heard a hair-raising screech come from inside. As we began to run away we felt as though someone was watching us, we could hear crows around us, sending chills down our spine. Soon we both were petrified at the site of the house, running as fast as we could go to get as far away as we could.

Wolves howling, crows screeching, bats flapping their wings, the house stood tall. It was old and dark, looked abandoned. Though, there were still lights on, visible from outside the house. As Ayden opened up the door, the door let out a loud creaking noise while tearing apart some cobweb covering the door and the door frame. As soon as the door was fully opened, a bat from inside the house flew straight out, startling Ayden. He fell to the floor, breaking one of the floorboards on the porch. His foot got stuck in the hole, but with enough struggling, he wiggled his foot out of it. Ayden got up and dusted his clothes off. He walked into the house, looking around inside the first room. There was an old looking chandelier inside this dark room, lighting up the room just a little with some candles on it. The candle flames were dim. There were a few pictures on the walls. One of them had a strange painting of a crow on it. The crow looked unusual, it looked surreal. It was hot and humid inside, making him sweat bullets. He then started towards the next room, to the living room.

The old forgotten house that sat on a hill overlooking the neighborhood was anything but normal. The crows chirped, the strong wind blew and the moon glistening, on a dark windy night while me and my friends were walking around at 10pm. It was my friends idea to check out the old house. My other friend disagreed stating the house was haunted. Ignoring them we walked up the hill onto the wooden deck. The wood floor creaked below us as we opened the big door. As we walked in, the house was cold and lifeless We continued in ,being careful of not stepping on the broken glass from the windows. The door slammed behind us BANG. The loud noise startled us. The furniture was old and dirty the wallpaper on the walls was chipped and peeling. The chandelier lightly swung fron the wind coming in by the broken window. the last person to ever be in the house was a old man that died three years ago. After hearing a huge noise coming from upstairs we raced out of the house not looking back as the door slammed again we ignored it and continued running to the road. That was the last time we ever entered the house.

No one had ever been there before and we were going to be the first. It was suspected to be previously owned by a infamous serial killer. Sure it needed some renovations, but I would worry about that when it came. When the owner was so quick to move out, that should have raised a red flag, but it didnt. If I knew what I know now about that horrible house, I would have just stayed on the streets.

I pull up into the drive way on my first day in my new house. MY HOUSE. Never thought I would say that! I get out of the truck and the engine sputters, then quits. GREAT, another gas leak. Second time this week. I cant afford to fix the old rigg, so maybe I can bike to work tommorrow. The house was out in the woods, at least 2 miles from any other life. If the leaning tower of piza was a house, this would be it. The house leans so unnaturally to the left that it almost looks unsafe. But the architect said it was fine. When we were coming back from the beach one day, we decided the take a different route.

It was a summer night, I could here the crickets chirping as the orange sun was heading down and the sky was turning pink. My friends and I all decided to ride our bikes to the forest where their was an old abandoned mansion. The entire town had warned many about this before. Ever since a boy went to the mansion 3 years ago he was missing. My stomach started twisting into a knot once the lifeless house was in sight. As we walked closer and closer to it, we could hear screams from behind us. Instant regret was in all of are faces. My friend Sarah's smile was now a deep frown plastering across her face. Her eyes looked sorrowful. "I think we should turn around." Sarah said anxiously. "Why would we go home when we have an old abandoned house that hasn't been walked in in 3 years?" I said. "It hasn't been walked inside of for 3 years for a reason." Sarah snapped back. CRUNCH the sound of my friends shoe steeping on the leaf startled us all. Shivers crawled down our spines as the night grew chilly. The door creaked open and the lights flickered on and off on and off. As we looked through the shiny glass window we saw devilish red eyes with rage staring at us. We all then started to run. One was left behind...

The day was coming to an end. Me and my friends were walking back from the park. Now there are 2 ways to get to our neighborhood. The long way or the short way. The long way consisted of a nice road back with slow traffic. The short way consisted of a very scary house that neither of my friends could walk by. But we only had about 15 minutes left of daylight left. And we wanted to be to our homes quick so we had no choice but to take the short way home. As we started walking down the road we seen the house in the distance. The wind picked up and the clouds filled in. I felt goosebumps rise upon me and the crows started talking. The closer we got the more I didn't feel good. All of a sudden a loud purge like horn went off. I got so scared until I realized it was the time for the fire stations horn testing was happening so I was good. I could smell a smoke like smell in the air and then dogs barking and I lost it. I took off running past the house and my friends followed. We got past the house and the wind went away and everything else. I looked to my friends and said never again. But as we got to the main road. Nothing looked the same. No cars and all the houses looked the same. Haunted. And that's when I heard something in the woods. Coming towards me...

I sprinted through the woods, branches and leaves whipping at my face. The wind howling in the dark and spooky night. I ran for a while before stopping to catch my breath. The air came in quick cold breaths as I waited and listened for any signs of danger. When none came I kept running further into the woods, further from my home, further from any help. The moon gleamed through the leaves and branches onto the forest floor. The shadows jumped around and seemed to chase me through the night. I finally stopped running when a mansion came into view, it was the scariest thing I had ever seen. The walls were covered in cobwebs and vines, brown with filth and debris, the windows smashed to pieces before me. The door was open ajar, spiders crawled out and scurried to me as if beckoning me inside. There was only one light on in the house, in the attic. I kicked the spiders off my legs and walked to the door. I peeked inside and looked around before stepping into the cold and musty house. The house smelled of mildew and dirt. The dark rooms were covered in dust, the furniture overturned and broken. I investigated and found the stair case, waling up I found gouges in the steps as big as plates. Scratches lined the walls and cobwebs hung from the ceiling. I cautiously made my way up the stairs and onto the second of three floors. I wasted no time and explored quickly, making my way to the last floor, the one with the light. I peeked into the room with the light and waited a moment before stepping through the threshold. Booom! The door slammed shut and the lights went out...

I gazed at the gigantic mansion in the terrifying forest glen with a look of terror on my face. At least I knew that my friends were following. I gripped the flashlight so tightly that my hand began to turn pale. I loosened my grip, and the pinkness began to flow back. I took a step forward, and I heard creaking beneath a plank. A flash darted out of one of the windows. I heard a pack of wolves growling behind me, and I turned. There, in place of my friends, there were three giant wolves, larger than any bear I'd seen. I hesitated, but I knew they would proceed to attack. I took another step and, without thinking, I ran inside. I was two steps in the musty hallway when a the door slammed. I ran, not knowing at the time what it was. I turned sharply left, as I heard a roar of some beast throwing screams in every direction but one. In the living room, I looked out the window where the figure darted out earlier. Then I saw the moon rearing its ugly head from behind the monstrous clouds, looks of terror upon their puffy faces. Then, I forced myself to look down despite myself. There were more wolves. And I looked to the floor. That was when the ground erupted beneath me in an explosion of fury and fire, sending me tumbling and flailing into a pit that led to who-knows where.

September 21st. The day all of our lives changed. I can't remember what led up to those days. The first friends I made, my first day of school, when I first learned how to ride a bike- all gone. I don't even remember the day before. And all because of this horrible house.
It was a warm day, starting to cool as the sun set behind the sloping mountains in the distance. Me and my friends, Molly, Logan, and Sequoia were all biking down from the lake we went to routinely over the summer. Now that school had started, it made us feel like we were wasting the little time we had left of summer. And it was torturous. So we had promised to go on one adventure every day for the rest of the summer, a proposition made by Sequoia. We were all eager to follow through. We had gone cliff jumping, bridge jumping, mountain climbing, had a picnic, anything you could think of to do over the summer, we did. It was amazing. We decided to finish our summer where it had started, with a calm day at Shapiro lake.
Molly sighed. "This was nice." She spoke, looking out over the lake.
"Nice idea, Izzy. Finishing where we started." Logan looked at me and flashed a fake smile, sad that the summer was ending.
"No," Molly looked at Logan. "This summer was a nice idea. The adventures."
"Yeah, thanks Logan," Sequoia smiled at Logan. She nudged him to make him laugh.
I looked down at my phone. A text from my mom read, "Where are you? You said 7:30?"
I looked up at the group. "We should head back before it gets dark."
"Yeah," Logan and Quoia said in unison. The two were inseparable, almost as much as me and Molly. We got up, took one last look over the lake, looking back at the memories we had made, almost as if we knew that it wasn't just the summer ending, but our whole friendship. Our whole lives.
We walked back to the road, got on our bikes, and got ready to go. I checked my phone. The time read 7:21. I looked at the others. "Is there a faster way to get to my place?"
Logan looked up from his phone. "Why?" He asked, fully ready to make fun of me for my overprotective mother.
"I wanted to get home before it gets dark, so that we could chill and watch a movie or something before you guys have to get home." I responded slickly.
"Oh, I think I know a way," Quoia answered for him. She started pedaling and we followed close behind. She took turns that I didn't even know existed in our small town, but reluctantly, we followed her. After about 5 minutes of unknown twists and turns, she stopped.
"I think were lost." She spoke, looking back.
"Are you kidding?!" Logan yelled.
I looked at Molly, who was looking off into one of the many houses in this neighborhood. It was a normal house, like any other. I walked over. "What are you looking at?" I asked.
When I got to where she was standing, I gasped. The house had changed, melted, right in front of my eyes. Logan and Quoia argued in the distance, as me and Molly stood in awe of the disgusting house, rotting, growing vines on it, yet somehow looking lived in. We looked at each other. We looked back at Logan and Quoia, who were gone. We looked back at the house. Instead, a huge man stood, blocking our view. He was about as disgusting at the house. His skin looked like it was ready to fall off. He wore a cloak, covering from his neck to his feet.
"Welcome, girls," He spoke. "We've been awaiting your arrival."

The old, horrifying house sat on top of a slight hill. No one had been in the house for over 50 years, until a couple of unsuspecting children stumbled upon it one Halloween. Henry and Mary were ready to go to a haunted house on October 31, 2019. They decided they were going to the scariest house in the neighborhood, the old Smith house. After arriving at the house, the 13 year olds trotted up the steps to the porch. "Did you hear that?" Mary questioned Henry, who shrugged in reply. The rotted wooden boards creaked as the children walked up to the front door. Henry felt a slimy liquid on the doorknob as he turned the handle. The two continued into the house, thinking the fluid was just fake blood, or something meant to scare them away. A growl came from deep within the house, causing Henry and Mary to run into the living room, crouching behind the sofa. "You definitely heard that, right?" inquired Mary with panic in her voice. "Yes but it's probably just an old recorder someone is controlling. Let's get going." Henry replied, without concern. Following his request, Mary stood up and walked behind Henry down the hallway. "I'm going in the basement. Come with me if you aren't scared." taunted Henry. Mary obviously did not want to go in the basement, but she could not turn down a challenge. She shoved in front of Henry, walking down the steep stairs into the dark abyss. The pair shuffled around, feeling for a light. Soon enough, Henry hit a switch that slightly brightened the area. Skeletons lined the walls of the basement, limp. Henry chuckled, "Classic. I dare you to go touch one." Mary countered, "No way, if you're so brave and mighty why don't you do it." Henry stepped forward and bent down to touch one of the heads. Just as he did, the arm of the skeleton grabbed him and pulled him to the ground, all of the others joined in, encircling Henry. Mary, still on the stairs, screamed, "Henry!" That's when she turned her head to see the beast coming toward her.

I woke up one day and I could sense something was off. I tried to ignore the feeling, but it kept on lingering within wherever I went. After a long 6 hour day of school, my older sister, Finley, and I were walking home. I could feel the burning sun radiating on our skin, making us more tired by the minute. We came across an extremely skeptical house. Most of the windows were shattered, and the roof looked like it was about to collapse at any moment. "I want to go inside" My sister says, walking towards the house. At this point, all I wanted to do was go home and take a nap. I want to feel my soft comforter on my skin while I close my eyes. Not to mention, I needed to eat, I could practically taste the homemade dinner my mom was cooking tonight. "Please Finley, can we just go home!" I plead desperately. "You can wait out here if you want, but I'm going in" She says. I decide to join her because I don't want be by myself. We enter the house and I can't see anything. It's pitch black and the smell traveling through the space is unbearable. We hear footsteps upstairs and immediately, a feeling of panic over takes me. "Finley, lets go now!" I whisper. I grab her hand at guide us to the front door. Right before we were about to leave, I hear the door slam and a hand cover my mouth...

Each step creaked as Kate tiptoed up the stairway, followed by her best friend Alex. They had been walking through Alex's backyard on a moonlit Friday night when they came across a house. Alex, who had explored this part of his backyard had never come across the house. It was clearly run down, the windows were shattered and boarded up, dead trees could be seen around the land, and an eerie rustling sound could be heard coming from the highest tower. The moon was hidden behind clouds that were as black as licorice. Kate, the more curious out of the two friends came up with the idea to explore the house; Alex, knowing that Kate would go without her reluctantly said yes. As they walked up the stars, a single light turned on in one of the windows, brighter than an angels wings. Kate and Alex started climbing faster as if they were being sucked into the light like it was a black hole. The wind grew louder and louder, like screams of ghosts warning them not to go closer. At this point Kate and Alex were running up the stairs which seemed to go on forever. When they finally reached the top of the stairs they were both out of breath, panting as if they were dogs in 100 degree weather. They stood there for a moment before going to the door. The doorknob was worn, the metal was tarnished. Kate went to the door and slowly turned the knob, it was cold like ice. As the door opened a huge gust of wind hurtled towards them; making their eyes water and filling their ears with warnings. "Don't go in there" the wind screamed. But they didn't listen.

As the autumn leaves fall around Barb on her afternoon walk and she takes in the crisp smell of fall, she feels as if nothing could tear her out of her state of tranquility. That is until she reaches the Smith residence and shivers race down her spine. She can't help it. Every day, she walks by the house, and every day, she gets the same tingly feeling. The house is so ancient, that the slightest gust of wind could knock it over. But that is not the only reason the house upsets Barb. The dusty and cracked windows are like eyes, staring deep into her soul. The old trees in the yard are frail skeletons, dead through and through. Only the steps are welcoming, and they practically beg the passing pedestrians to come closer, as if they are luering them into the dark house. Barb and her dog, Molley, pick up their pace as they pass by it, too intimidated to stay any longer, but just as they reach the end of the property, Gertrude Smith, the youngest of the family, approaches them. Her filthy light pink nightgown drags on the ground behind her, and her dark brown hair is tangled on her head. As she approaches, Barb, with her sneakers on, and her short, greying hair shoved under a headband, begins to walk faster and faster, avoiding the ghastly child at all causts. She wants nothing to do with that family or that house. As she races after Barb, Gertrude begins to hum. Her pitch is high and mocking. After a few minutes, Barb looks back and sees that she has lost the child. She begins to slow down her pace, and when she faces forward again, Gertrude is before her, a wicked smile on her face.

But he couldn't let it show. If the group of teenagers behind him knew that he was afraid to even approach the old house, they would never let him hear the end of it. Knowing he couldn't stall any longer, Marvin looked up at the sky for his final glimpse of the twisted clouds, and pushed open the door. The ghosts he had expected never came. Instead, the door slammed behind him, throwing him into the pitch dark of what he believed to be a hallway. Marvin stumbled his way around the house. He bumped into walls, his feet tripping over long, almost bone like shapes. Marvin looked all around him, turning every which way. He was thoroughly lost. He began to move again, pushing his way through cobwebs and knocking over class containers that sat on shelves. Finally, just when he thought all hope was lost, he saw a light. He ran as fast as he could towards it. When he got closer, he realized that the light came from the house's sole window. He pressed his face close to the glass and watched his breath crystallize as it met the cold air from outside. Relieved that he had found an exit at last, Marvin looked up towards the old trees that had grown crooked with age. That was when he screamed.

One day you go out with you friends in the woods behind your yard. You start to go really far and forget about the time as you are having the time of your life. In what seemed like a few minutes, it was already dark out. You and friends are lost in the eerie forest with the giant trees the sway in the wind. After searching through the corridors of dead trees and shrubs, you find your house in all its glory. However, as you approach the building, it seems different; it seems more alive! You know this is where you house is, as you have been been living there for decades, but something seems off. The once beautiful home seemed like a worn down shack that creaked and snapped in the wind. Out of the corner of your eye you see the lights flickering on and off, so you go towards the door. Suddenly a cold and scaley hand grabs you, to a place where you see nothing but two glowing orange eyes. The next day you wake up to something unusual. You and your friends were just laying in an empty patch of dew-covered grass in the middle of the woods, in which you could see your house a few hundred feet away. So what had really happened that night?

I take a few steps out into my new backyard, long and spooky. The first night in my new house, and the backyard at night transforms into a whole new world. In a matter of seconds the wind started whistling, calling. "Fiona." it whispers. A shiver crawls down my back. Why, why, why did I stay her alone tonight? I gather the courage to place my little dog down to relieve herself. Watching her every move, just in case anything was out there to snatch her up. "Maizie. C'mon, don't go too far. I don't want to have to chase you into who knows what." I whisper with a harsh tone. She looks back at me for a couple seconds, but quickly turns her head facing the dark and ravenous woods. My feet start to get cold, the dew on the grass is climbing up my legs. I start to shiver, "Maizie, we're going inside." I reach down to pick her up, when she bolts into the trees right out of my grasp. I stand shivering with chills, but not wanting to be left alone, I try to peer into the forest, not being able to see anything but trees and long snake-like twigs. I tiptoe around the massive trees, reaching out to grab me. "Maizie!" I call. Only taking 100 or so steps out of my yard I come to a small clearing. Fog is rolling around on the ground, making it hard to see if my little dog is among the rocks on the ground. Whispers start to get into my head. I start turning around and around not knowing where to look. But I realize, I don't know which way I came from. I go into a panic, something slides across my foot and I dash. Not knowing where I'm going I halt, seeing a little white lump on the ground. Kneeling down, I feel my knees and legs become damp, not sure from what. I stare intently at the creature, not sure whether or not it is my Maizie. I let out a whimper, seeing that it is my little dog, her sweet eyes, her soft fur. Not knowing which way is home, I wrap my body around my Maizie, keeping her hidden from the rest of the darkness in the forest. Tuning out the terrors hiding, watching, waiting. I close my eyes and shut them tight, not wanting to know of my surroundings until daytime, feeling the cold grass on my back, the trees and dark stare at me. "Who knows what could be out here." Little do we know there is a whole house full of things waiting upon our entry. That house, waiting, watching with it's cold eyes.

The spooky house looked as if it was as old as the Earth itself. One step in and a sticky cobweb collided with you right in the face. A creak from another step caused the house to groan as you become filled with fear. The smell of old wood and dust makes you sneeze and gives off an unsettling tone. A door to the right allows you to enter the living room where the mysterious paintings on the walls seem to stare down deep into your soul. Your bystander friend at the doorway signals with regret of opening the door to this disturbed 100-year-old house. You wonder, "What else could lurk inside the remnants of this haunted house?" As you turn to run out of this forbidden place the door slams behind you and wines as if you had done something to it. A retreat is what you and your friend need, help is what you need. Unfortunately, your friend trips down the creaking stairs onto the dusty pathway. Running and running until you mess up. A gravestone seems to appear out of nowhere and trip you in the process. The trees groaned alongside the house as if it was yelling at you to run away. Your feet slam the ground full force with ease as you follow your scared friend. You decide to come back to the building that contained an ominous presence within another day but with some more supporting friends.

There were no bystanders in sight; the house creaked and crooned with each gust of the dusty wind. There was an orange hue in the air, furthermore adding to the mystical ambiance. Tonight was the night he would venture into "The House", tonight he would not back down. He made his way to the entry, and just as he came to the doorway he came to a realization. Despite the lack of other people, Morgan felt an ominous presence; he was not alone.

I shot up from my bed, I thought I heard something, no I know I heard something. I slowly lifted myself out of the bed and touched the cold and dark floors. Each step seemed to shake the entire house as I moved to the bedroom of my door. I put my ear up to the door, my own breathe in the air. It sounded like someone was tapping on the other side of the door. In a fit of pure adrenaline I quickly open the door and I see. Nothing. I looked to my left and then right, the house seemed to try to speak to me with all it's creaks and thuds. I close my door and walk back to my bed. I get under my thick wool sheets, I close my eyes. However, I felt something strange on my face, it was warm and smelled of old manure. I open my eyes and see nothing, but I take a closer look and see my own breathe. And someone else's.

It was a crisp Autumn afternoon, one of those where you just want to spend the day laying within the leaves, letting the wind and sounds around take you away; a couple of friends were hanging out after school and decided to take advantage of the beautiful weather. The group was made up of four lovely children, around the age of 14 or so, who all were very good students in school but also yearned for a bit of mischief in their life. One of the girls, Willow, had just moved into a new home in a neighborhood where creepy might be a bit of an understatement to describe it, none the less, the kids were enchanted by it, eager to begin exploring. After taking a small tour of the house, they decided it was time to take a deeper look into what secrets this whole new place held, their target was the abandoned house that lived right at the end of the neighborhood. According to the sellers of the house, nobody lived there, nor had anybody lived there for the past ten years, there were reports that it might have been haunted by something but no one ever dared to investigate. The small group of friends made their way down the street, predicting what might be inside the house, perhaps it was ghosts, maybe just some old man who no one liked, or it could just be empty and so worn down that no one ever cared to clean it. As they approached the home, there was a large shriek and then screams coming from the upstairs, "STOP, GET AWAY FRO-", the cry was cut short. Even more curious than they were before, the group went up to the large front door, which had been left partially open, and peered inside. There didn't seem to be anything out of the ordinary, just a long, dark hallway, with a couple cobwebs here and there. All seemed decently normal, until they turned back around to see Willow was missing, without a sound, without a trace.

Me and my family had just moved and bought a new house. It looked as old as the dark age, but, my parents liked it. The day we moved in, there were cobwebs that were miles wide and an old musty smell too. the floor boards would creek with every step. The lights barely worked and would flicker once in a while. I headed to my new room. There were cracks in the wall and bugs crawling everywhere. My parents flipped houses for a living so they didn't mind how it looked, but me? Well, I wasn't sure that this house wanted to be flipped. It felt like the house was staring at me ever since we pulled up to it. I tried to let it go but there was always a small voice in the back of my head telling me that something wasn't right. I couldn't ignore the voice anymore so I decided to do some research. Apparently this was the neighborhood haunted house. There were several reports of people hearing yelling and screeching in the house even though it has been abandoned for years. I kept looking and looking then suddenly, my computer shut off. I had it plugged in and it was all charged, so something had to have caused this. I ran downstairs to see that my parents computers were working fine. I went back upstairs to try and turn it on again but when I got to my door I heard something, CREAK, CREAK, CREAK. I slowly approached my door, listening, the creaking slowed to a stop. I then could hear breathing coming from the other side of the door and the handle started to turn.

Andie Valuk- The House on Willow Hill

"What are we even doing here?"
17 year-old Samantha Smith was standing nervously in front of the old abandoned house on Willow Hill. If you looked up the definition of creepy in the dictionary, found the most complex synonym, and looked up an image for that word, you would have found the image for this house in the search.
With rotting old wooden beams covered in moss, singles that appeared like they would slide of the rooftop any minute, and a graveyard full of grimy headstones missing names in the front yard, everyone in the small town of Benstone knew Willows Hill was as haunted as a possessed cat.
For this reason, Samantha's brothers and their friends had dared her to spend a full 24 hours. With all of the pressure, Samantha knew that she had no choice but to except. Otherwise, she would be forever known as a chicken.
Now Samantha, along with her loyal best friend, Robby, were surrounded by bare trees, shifting their feet nervously. Next to them lay their supplies. Two heavy duty sleeping bags and pillows. Three flashlights with spare batteries. Enough bags of chips, candy, and cookies to feed an army. A few bottles of water (later Samantha realized that she forgot to think of what happened if she had to go to the bathroom). Robby had brought ten peanut butter and Nutella sandwiches, books, comics, board games, toilet paper ("Thank God!" Samantha had said), and his Boy Scout Survival Kit, which included rope, a knife, a whistle, a fire-starter with tinder, and a compass (among other not as useful things like dehydrated meals).
Robby turned to Samantha and said, "Well, it is not to late to turn back."
Samantha smirked. "You can go back if you want to, but I am staying. No way will I let my stupid brothers get that satisfaction."
"I thought you might say that." Robby sighed. "The fact that you are my best friend is the only reason I am not running as fast as I can down the hill."
FLASH! Before another word could be spoken, Samantha noticed a light in one of the rooms on the top floor turn on.
"Do you see that?" Samantha asked Robby.
"Yeah . . ." Robby responded. "It's impossible though. There are no power lines leading to the house."
But it was happening. Suddenly, a shadow passed over the window, and the light went out as quickly as they had come on. Both Samantha and Robby turned to look at each other at the same time.
"Well . . ." Robby mused. "What an interesting way to kick off our 24 hour stay on Willow Hill."

TO BE CONTINUED . . .
P.S. Hope you enjoyed a sneak peak of "The House on Willow Street"! :)
