On May 29, 2016, Gary Johnson was officially nominated to be a candidate. One of his main goals and one way he would try to earn more votes than the other competitors, was by hopefully appealing to voters who weren't sure about Trump. He had 15 percent in the polls which is why he was able to become a third party.
