Throughout the book, author pointed out to children the importance of all new generations, brought up First Nations people and honours the oldest continuous culture on Earth through pictures, colors and activities. "My history is my strength, my future is my own, my community is a part of me; it's my time, my heartbeat." This is a great picture book I would choose for children to learn about First Nation people as Adam M & Flint T (2018) indicated that "children's literacy skills are developed through the interconnected links between picture books."

As Roy D et al (2015, pp.13) stated “art communicate something ‘other’, something valuable that is ‘beyond’ words.” which help children to express their feelings, emotions and thinking that they may not find a way to speak. According to Pelo A (2016, pp.59), color reflects and reminds us about everything in life. At a very young age, painting and color play an important part in helping children remain their innocent view of life.
 In my opinion, it is important to teach children to use everyday materials such as clay, paper, charcoal and blocks to communicate and express their opinions because sometimes, not everything could express by words and "materials can evoke memories, narrate stories, invite actions, and communicate ideas (Pacini-Ketchabaw et al, 2016, pp.10)."

As an early childhood educator, I understand that children can have so many languages to communicate and express their opinion rather than just speaking or listening. We have to view children as capable and competent member of society to value their languages. As I mentioned above, using materials could be considered one of their languages as long as they can communicate in their own ways and as an educator, we have to find a way to understand them. According to Edwards C, 2011, p. 233-235, listening plays an important role in language development for children. Moreover, as Reggio Emilia suggested, listening can be considered as the key for relationships which allow children to communicate.
As an early childhood educator, I would always aim to have an open classroom or environment where children can freely speak, listen and be listened to. "Experts say speaking two or more languages helps widen a child's horizons" ( Ewert K, 2023). Children growing up in diversity of languages in a country like Australia are more likely to adapt to the world and other cultures easier and quicker. This also brings so many advantages to children development as well as their language development. Researcher has shown that bilingual children is smarter and they seem to have better skills. Moreover, they are more sensitive to features of communication (Lew-Williams C & Byers-Heinlein K (2013).
