Example:When students are completing a lab, they utilize the scientific method. They have to think critically about what they hypothesize will happen and once the outcome occurs, reflect on why they were right or why they were incorrect.

Connection:Critical thinking is applicable in everyday situations and helps us navigate problems and situations that occur. Critical thinking allows us to be independent and think in both convergent and divergent ways.

Concept- Transfer:Thinking about or learning a concept differently based on past information and preconceptions. Can be both beneficial and not for a student.

Example: In class, I’m learning about something that I’m passionate about, so I’m more receptive to the information, encode it better, and store it for later use. In the future, I’ll more readily retrieve this information.

Connection: We’re constantly intaking so much information, but we don’t remember and think about all of the stimuli we take in; instead, our brain shuffles through the information, encodes, and stores what we find important, useful, and applicable.
