He set up a police force from the sales of gambling and the sales of opium and liquor.                   </p><p>3.William Farquhar, the first British Resident of Singapore, faced numerous challenges in his role, including financial constraints, conflicting instructions from Stamford Raffles, and the need to implement pragmatic measures to ensure the survival of the newly established trading post. He also had to contend with a lack of resources, slow communication with superiors, and internal conflicts with Raffles over his administrative decisions</p><p>4.Singapore soon turned into a bustling trading market. There is no road or place that bears Farquhar name.</p><p><br></p>]]></description>
