And I Draken is a retelling of Vlad the Impaler, who is genderbent, Radu the Handsome, and Mehmed the Conqueror. The story takes place during the time the Ottoman Empire sieges Constantinople, and has very immersive world building. I’m not the biggest fan of historical fiction, but the writing style and pacing were amazing. It reads like a fantasy novel, and the characters read a lot older than they are, which I find appealing. The characters themselves are probably the best part of the book. The whole story felt like the climax, but just kept getting more eventful. I ended up reading the whole series, and it got better with every book.

This was quite a good mystery book for the reasons of not exactly knowing what was actually happening. A lot of it was confusing but it was still a pretty good read and everything made sense once you got to the end.

It definitely took me on an emotional rollercoaster and made me want to laugh and cry. The journey all of the characters took through the book together was beautiful, especially the friendships that developed.
*I chose the other category because this book is a Psychological Fiction.

This was a very powerful graphic novel that documents Batman’s earliest missions. This story contrasts with Jim Gordon’s narrative, a new cop in Gotham who is struggling with the harsh realities of the city. The compelling story is complemented by the amazing illustrations, which present Gotham as a bleak and oppressive city, where crime lurks everywhere.

Ruby Sparks
I really, really enjoyed this book. It's quite dark and deals with super heavy subjects so when reading people should be wary as it can be quite triggering. The characters feel like real people and so sometimes it is hard to read because the things they go through are really awful. However, the story telling and writing is really beautiful.

Just Mercy is a wonderful book about the corruption of the American system of incarceration. This book details Bryan Stevenson’s life as he and his law firm try to get wrongly convicted/unfairly sentenced prisoners off death row, as well as those with lengthy sentences. It was a very moving book, as you can see how someone's race, gender, class, and even upbringing can alter the way someone is treated by the law. I would recommend everyone to read this book, as it is enlightening and accessible.
- Mckenna Schirle

I’m not much of a horror reader but I went in this book with an open mind. I definitely enjoyed reading this book and really liked the way the author introduced each character. However I didn’t think this book was “scary” or “frightening” but it was still a good read. I’ve read some reviews about this book and I do agree with one person saying that the book started off strong but after awhile it gets a little tiring. Although it was a very long winded read I did enjoy it for the most part.
Yovi Castillo
