We decided to go through with training the kids because the local church had to cancel practices because of gym time and we both share a great love for basketball! We felt if there were kids that wanted to be better at the sport and couldn't because of the lack of gym time , we´d be there to help! When we could we would show up to the church for an in gym practice and if the gym was closed we would practice on the court in our local  neighborhood.

We made sure that each of the kids learned something through this experience and worked them hard. The kids were exposed to new roles that changed there perspectives on things. whether it was a leadership role or stepping down and allowing someone else to do it for you. The kids broke down the barriers they had put up and learned what it meant to be compassionate and hardworking. Each kid showed us what it meant to be a good teammate and a great leader.They compared their differences and allowed each other to grow through those differences. We had soon come to realize that they didnt know anything about basketball, which was great ! We had welcomed this new challenge with a smile on our face! Whether it was teaching the kids what the baseline was or showing them a new move. They were all able to learn how to move freely with the ball and just play the sport! It was so fun watching them grow , especially seeing them spark with excitement when they finally had a new move down that they had worked so very hard on.

Once they started to get more advanced we began to make the drills more complex and eventually got them to scrimmage !

When i first met the kids me and Alana would be training i was a little worried that they would get out of control and i wouldn't be able to do this, but in the end i loved the kids and hat fun hanging out with them. connection 2-Another connection i made with conor grennan was when he went out of his way to promise that he would be back . Similarly to conor i made a promise ( me and alana both actually) that we would not give up and would continue to help the kids grow and get better. (K)
connection 3-I personally made a connection with conor when he went out of his way to find the parents and make a connection with them. During my time spent with the kids i also went out of my way to make sure the parents me and kheim had all built a relationship, so i could show them i cared for the kids !!(A)
connection 4-Another connection i made to conor grennan was how distraught he felt when he was away from the kids. As our season came to an end i was upset after every practice knowing that we were closer and closer to ending our season. But in the end i did what i could in the time that we had. (A)

During the time i spent with these wonderful kids i learned a lot, and truthfully speaking i thought id only be doing some teaching! The kids allowed me to give them my knowledge and gave me compassion and kindness in return. Each of the kids me and kheim trained had their own personality s and their own strengths and weaknesses! The kids showed me that they could accomplish anything with hard work and i am so incredibly proud of them. I made new friends and have amazing memories to look back on. They encouraged me to work harder in what i love too, because it does pay off!

KHEIM
When i first met the kids with Alana i was crazy nervous! The kids were full of energy i wasn't sure i could keep up with. It honestly worried me a bit. After talking to Alana she reassured me that we would be able to do this as long as we applied ourselves. so i did exactly that. I learned a lot about these kids and how excited they were to try something new. All of their different personality's coming together as one really surprised me.
