Beyond The Magic: Why Disney Should Rethink Live- Action Remakes

Disney's Recycled Content: A Disappointment

Disney is the most successful film company to ever exist.

Disney’s first big success was creating the first full length animated film (Snow White) which made Disney millions of dollars and a really good reputation. Since Snow White, Disney kept making tons of amazing, iconic animated films which we all grew up with, such us “Bambi”, “Beauty and the Beast”, “Aladdin” and “The Lion King”. Nowadays the company has a market cap worth of 186.54 billion dollars.

However, in the last few years, it seems like Disney has run out of ideas. It can be seen by their decision to release a lot more sequels, spin offs and live-action remakes and hardly any original movies. In this article, we are going to explain why this phenomenon annoys us so much, focusing on the live action remakes.

Disney’s Female Representation: Back Then And Today

One of the main issues with Disney’s live action movies and in movies lately in general is the female characters representation. Let’s take a look at Disney’s “Snow White.” The movie was released in 1937, at that time it was customary that women take care of the house, clean, and cook. Therefore, In the movie we see Snow White clean and cook by herself for the gnomes. It was not only customary, but also logical that since they let her live in their house, she would in return help them take care of it. Yet in the upcoming live action it seems like Snow White is going to enter the gnomes house just to give them chores instead which only represent the female character as a selfish and careless character just to prevent making her look weak.

Disney’s Solution To Racism: Choosing Actors Based Of Their Origins

The issue we mentioned in the previous paragraph is valid not only for female representation but also for other communities. They choose on purpose black and asian actors to play characters that in the original movie were white even if they are not good actors at all.

This issue stems from Disney trying to have anyone represented but they do not care about their performance and loyalty to the source.

It is important to emphasize that the issue is not with the actors and of course there are some amazing and talented black and asian actors but when a cast chooses actors only because of their origins- that almost sounds like racism altho it should not.

In the last years Disney started to care more about being politically correct than the quality of their movies. They ran out of original ideas for stories and thus they recycle their old stories and they do it in the worst way possible.

The history of toaster

How did the toaster come up to be as we know it today?

by yonatan Golan and Sagi Borukhov

What is a Toaster?

The toaster is one of the most popular inventions of all time. We all know and use it

on a daily basis, moreover it is installed in every household, it is a small electric

appliance that uses heat to brown sliced bread into toast, but have you ever

wondered about how it came to be as we currently know it today?

The Time Before The Toaster

at 3000 b.c before toasters were invented, early civilizations put slices of bread

above a fire to toast it. Later on, better methods were created to toast the bread

more efficiently such as putting it on wireframes and sticks.

When Was the Toaster Invented?

In the early 1880’s arrived stoves that used wood and coal. A new toasting method

was needed. so, they invented a tin and wire pyramid shaped device. This device was used until 1905, when Albert Marsh created a nickel and chromium composite

called “Nichrome”. It was the first model that worked on electricity.

The Start of Technology Powered Toasters

Made in 1919 by mechanic Charles Strite, a toaster with an incorporated timer that

shuts off the heating element and releases a pop up string when the toast is ready.

which was the first of its kind and started the trend of adding technology to the

toaster.

The Rise of Variety in Toasters

By the 1980 the advancements of eat resisting plastics offered more options for

designing toasters. Models in a variety of colors, shapes and sizes became popular.

Wider slots for bagels and thick slices of bread also appeared, as well as models

with up to six slots for multiple toasting.

The Modern Day

By now, “smart toasters” have become the dominant toaster model. They use

microchip technologies that allow you to choose the burning level of the toast. and

include all the features from previous toasters and more.

the future?

While we don't know what will happen in the future, we could speculate that the

toasters in the future will probably use small holograms as buttons to set the burning

level of the toast, or maybe it will be entirely made out of holograms except for the

burning mechanism itself which would probably also change as the technology

advances.

Conclusion

To summarize, the toaster had been through many iterations and evolutions over the

years, and now you know what this invention is all about, what it was and what it became.
