This is Anthony from another podcast in English, in this time I'll talk about a scientist called César Lattes.
He was born on July, 11 1924 in Curitiba, Brazil, in other words he's originally from Brazil, although his family is Italian. He lived in different parts of Brazil and he traveled to England to work.
He did his first studies in Curitiba and São Paulo where he graduated in mathematics and physics. As I said he was interested in studying the physics and he was considered the most brilliant of a group of Brazilian physicists who worked under European teachers.
Lattes studied the cosmic rays, he improved on the nuclear emulsion used by Cecil Powell, he discovered the pion with her and he was responsible for calculating its mass. He was a great scientist at all and his work was fundamental for the atomic physics.
He received from the Unicamp the titles of doctor honoris causa and professor emeritus and he died in 2005 of a heart attack.
Anyway, I chose him because I like physics and he made many improvements for the science, as any person he doesn't have nothing special but with this research I discovered that a scientist does many travels and he/she does have to leave Brazil to improve his/her knowledge, at least if he/she is a physicist (I made a mistake in the audio when I said "physics").
That's it! As you may have noticed I'm trying to learn the British Accent, so my pronunciation is a little bit weird for now, but I'll improve it such as Lattes has improved the science. Until next podcast, bye!
