         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong><em>This House supports the death penalty.<br></em></strong><strong><mark>The main clashes of the debate would be:</mark></strong><mark><br></mark>1) CLASH 1 over the finitude of the death penalty.<br>2) CLASH 2 over defining the main goals of the death penalty and whether or not they have been achieved so far.<br>3) CLASH 3 over the violation of human rights.<br>4) CLASH 4 over the connection between enacting the death penalty and maintaining a civilized society.<br><strong><mark>Clash Questions:<br></mark></strong><strong>*NOTE: </strong>Before referring to any of the clashes, the students should define which country or government system they intend to discuss.<strong><mark><br></mark></strong><strong>CLASH 1:</strong> What would be the consequences of discovering - after the execution took place- that the executed felon had actually been innocent? What would be the implications of enacting the death penalty concerning criminals' rehibilitation chances?<br><strong>CLASH 2: </strong>What goals does enacting the death penalty aim to acheive? Are those goals fulfilled? Does enacting the death penalty correspond with the official purpose of the relevant correctional system?<br><strong>CLASH 3: </strong>Which human rights<strong> </strong>listed in the UNUDHR<strong> </strong>are relevant to this motion for ALL people involved (felons, law enforcement officials, Judicial system officials, environment)? Which human rights might be violated by enacting the death penalty and how (for all people involved)?<br><strong>CLASH 4:</strong> What is a civilized society? What qualifies a society as civilized and by whom? What influence might enacting the death penalty have on a society that considers itself civilized - what may be the long-term consequences for such a society? </div>]]></description>
