My grandpa crossed through the desert and was determined to make it to achieve his dream of coming to the United States and establishing a family here. He came because he didnt want his future family to be in Mexico and be poor just like he was. My Grandpa on my dads side also came to the United States alone and crossed through the dessert alone. He was a migrant farm worker during the times they were treated unfairly and werent paid good enough. In fact he was friends with Cesar Chavez and would go on all the marches that he did with him, he would always be in the front of the march with him and was really good friends with him. My grandpa from my dads side almost died on the way here because he went through the desert and he was short on water, he also got lost at some point and was on the point of dying but luckily he fought through and made it. This affected my family because at that time my grandpa was a migrant farm worker so he wasnt making a lot of money so these protests would help him get the money he deserved.
