Every day, people burn fossil fuels. In many ways people burn fossil fuels. For example buses and factories burn fossil fuels. Today Millions of people use cars. The burning of the fossil fuels results in increase in greenhouse effects and global warming. Cars make a lot of pollution, too. Factories can make over 100,000 pounds of waste just to make one 3,500 pound car.12 Building a car can make as much air pollution as driving the car for ten years.13

Auto makers put special controls on car engines, so they will make less pollution when people drive them. A modern car makes much less pollution when it's running than a car did in the 1950s. The air in cities like Los Angeles is much cleaner than it used to be. Car engines also produce a wide array of particles that are directly harmful to human and animal health. Hydrocarbons and particulate matter can cause breathing difficulties and long-term diseases. Many hydrocarbons are known to be carcinogens, which means they cause cancer.

One of the world's leading causes that pollute the air by burning fossil fuels to create energy. Basically fossil fueling is worldwide.

Some effects that cars do are infecting the atmosphere, producing more and more Carbon Dioxide in the air, and contributing in the rise in global warming. But there over-consumption can lead to serious environmental issues such as air pollution. Fossil fuels release carbon dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, sulphur dioxide, carbon monoxide etc. when burnt that can have severe consequences on the habitats (http://www.conserve-energy-future.com/Disadvantages_FossilFuels.php)

Collectively, cars and trucks account for nearly one-fifth of all US emissions, emitting around 24 pounds of carbon dioxide and other global-warming gases for every gallon of gas. About five pounds comes from the extraction, production, and delivery of the fuel, while the great bulk of heat-trapping emissions—more than 19 pounds per gallon—comes right out of a car’s tailpipe.(http://www.ucsusa.org/clean-vehicles/car-emissions-and-global-warming#.WE69lLIrLIU)
According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), vehicles account for almost one-third of smog-forming emissions, and every year, more people take to the road and drive farther distances, an increase of more than 120 percent since 1970.

Instead of using cars that burn a lot of fossil fuels, people can use buses, use electric cars, or even the train. It will be costly. Not everyone has enough money to buy a electric car. This then results in using your car that burns fossil fuels. Driving fewer miles would, therefore, decrease the amount of pollution produced by cars. How to do this is easy. Various sites make the same general suggestions:

Carpool

Combine errands into one trip

Take public transportation

Shop by phone, mail or Internet

Telecommute, if possible

Telecommuting is work from home, making use of the Internet, e-mail, and the telephone.

Smog is a yellowish or blackish fog formed mainly by a mixture of pollutants in the atmosphere which consists of fine particles and ground level ozone. Smog which occurs mainly because of air pollution, can also be defined as a mixture of various gases with dust and water vapor. The main sources of these precursors are pollutants released directly into the air by gasoline and diesel-run vehicles, industrial plants and activities, and heating due to human activities.

Smog is often caused by heavy traffic, high temperatures, sunshine and calm winds. These are few of the factors behind increasing level of air pollution in atmosphere.
It is harmful to humans, animals, plants and the nature as a whole. Many people deaths were recorded, notably those relating to bronchial diseases. Heavy smog is responsible for decreasing the UV radiation greatly. Thus heavy smog results in a low production of the crucial natural element vitamin D leading to cases of rickets among people.

The best known fuel cell is hydrogen-based. This technology uses hydrogen gas to create electricity.
