I adapted the exercise to be a mini unit of 3 lessons with students to undertake the exercise with tools, in the workshop. Following this they will draw and create the item using 3D CAD drawing program Inventor. I drew up 3 Lesson Plans for this.

This is similar to an activity that I was part of in my first Practical placement as a teacher which I thought worked especially well, with students developing practical and critical thinking skills, with opportunity for reflection and evaluation and the integration of Technology at the Redefiniton level under the SAMR model.
