Begin on May 4, 1961. The leader was Fred Shuttlesworth. IT was a group of 13 African-American (also whites too) and a white civil rights activist. The freedom riders left washington to test the supreme court ruling Boynton vs. Virginia.

Montgomery bus boycott

Martin Luther King Jr Organized the bus boycott in 1955 To end segregated busing. Anyone involved didn't ride busses until they would pass a law against segregated busing.

March on Washington 1963

Mississippi Freedom Summer

In 1964, voter dramatically increased in Mississippi. Mississippians (both black and white) was attack by the KKK, Police, and local authorities. The organization was runned by the local Council of Federation organization. This project established fifty freedom schools.

Assasination of Martin Luther King Jr.

April 4, 1968 shortly after 6:00pm MLK Jr. was shot and killed, by James Earl Ray, on the second-floor balcony outside his room at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee. He was pronounced dead at 7:05 p.m. at St. Joseph Hospital.

Bombing of the 16th street Baptist Church

On september 15, 1963 a bomb exploded in the Baptist Church. The Church was for a meeting for civil rights leaders. Four girls were killed, and other were injured. 200 members of the church was in the church when the bomb went off. This attack was the third bombing in 11 days.

Selma,Alabama 1965

1965, Martin Luther King Jr.’s Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC). protesters attempted to march from Selma to the state capital of Montgomery. They were met with Violence by local authorities and state.

Civil Rights Act of 1964

This act ended all discrimination on race , gender, religion and racism. It was proposed by the president John F. Kennedy. After awhile this act expanded and passed a legislation for bringing equality to African-Americans. Before this act colored people would have to use polly taxes and take literacy tests. And had a strict law named the JIm Crow law.
