Social media is JUST a platform; a reflection of society as a whole. All parties must have a willingness to seek opinions that extend beyond their individually held beliefs and ideologies. This article provides some mass survey results and the views of many media people on the Internet and future institutions.

In general, it is the development of science and technology that makes the Internet more common, resulting in the audience can use the Internet at a lower cost and easier to connect with each other.

On the one hand, institutions can provide services to audiences / consumers according to the characteristics of the Internet: including finance, medical treatment and government, which are called remote service / self-service. The standardization and certification of information and transactions will eventually enable institutions to share knowledge through the Internet, so as to provide better and higher quality services. The internet is versatile and all encapsulating. The need for regulation stems from the fact that comments made over platforms online such as twitter have sparked and may have even perpetuated violence. 

How the lack of balance in a free speech platform has the potential to lead to the spread of misinformation and chaos. The need for government and self-regulation becomes all the more necessary when lives are at stake. 

The article follows facebook and twitters decision to officially ban Trump the former president of the US as he has been found to constantly use his platform to spread misinformation and untrue statements. 

Being the president of a country and not considering the problems and the potential harm spreading fake news may cause has placed the question of how these governments aim to regulate these types of media when world leaders take part in the chaos.

The study questions how and why a platform initially promoted as a space where the voiceless are provided with a voice. Moreover, an academic tool and even promoting the ideas of academic collaborations has turned into a platform where fake news and disruption runs rampant. 

The idea called into question is whether or not democracy is being hijacked as media sites, being highly influential, have the ability to persuade users. Therefore free speech and thinking for oneself is further questioned. 

The level of influence social media has makes it no secret that the potential for political discourse is high and therefore, the study points out that from voting turnouts, opinions and even populism is all dictated by social media.
