The alligator is at the top of the food chain which means nothing will attack it excluding humans/poachers. The python is actually becoming more common and there have been some cases where pythons have eaten alligators. The purpose of this act is to make sure everyone is playing their part in helping restore and take care of the Florida wildlife. 
It protects around 600 different areas of land. My ecological footprint takes up 15.3 acres of land while the average American needs about 23 acres of land and the global average is 6.5 acres. I need around 3.4 planet Earths to provide enough resources if everyone lived like me. Since America has all of the basic human necessities plus military and government, it increases everyone's footprint. In Florida, ecological footprints play a part in why the Everglades are at risk. With deforestation, cities will be pushing and deforesting the land around the Everglades. Eventually people will complain about not having enough space and could get the laws about protecting the Everglades repealed. If the laws were to get repealed, people would move into the Everglades and destroy them; which would eradicate endangered species and negatively impact the protected species. There are around 100 wild pumas alive in southern Florida. Many can be found in the Everglades and other national parks. Many die from habitat loss and sicknesses such as feline leukemia. Lion fish can reproduce every 4 days. 
Native Range: They are native to the Indian and Pacific oceans along with the Red Sea. 
Arrival in Florida: The lion fish were first seen in Florida in 1985, specialists are not aware of how the fish came to Florida. Now these fish have migrated along the East Coast and into the Gulf of Mexico.
