Eben only has 15 cents. (He also has 5 pesos, but he can’t buy the shirt with pesos, only US Dollars.) Even can’t buy the shirt. </div><div><br></div><div>Eben doesn’t have a shirt yet. He goes shopping at The Shirt Store. The shirt doesn’t cost too much. The shirt is on sale. It only costs 1 cent. Eben buys the shirt! </div><div><br></div><div>Of course, it doesn’t have to be just a “shirt.” You could also include other items of clothing, like pants or shoes or whatever. But, as Susan Gross says, “Shelter vocabulary, not grammar.” </div><div><br></div><div>If you teach Spanish and you use “shirt,” you’ve got to listen to La Camisa Negra by Juanes. A lot of the song will be incomprehensible for beginner/intermediate students, but the chorus line will surely stick in their heads! </div><div><br></div><div>TPRS TIP: Take a moment to discuss conversion rates, and ask “So how much does the shirt cost in $US if it costs 25 Mexican pesos?”</div><div><br>Tripp's Scripts</div>]]></description>
