I do think this is true. There was a woman in super nice clothes asking for a ride because her tire was flat. 4 people were crowded around asking who could take her. Then right up the road there was a homeless man and nobody gave him a nice look.
The characters support this theory because when adele was getting bullied nobody said anything exept owen.

I think the theme in "Cheboygan day" shows speaking up for someone doesn't always lead to a good friendship to the public. Owen spoke up for her and almost made himself seem so nice, but then turned on Adele and wasn't very nice to her. People thought he was a good person but soon found out he was like the rest.

Critique the story by deciding whether or not the message is clear. Did you understand what lesson she wanted the audience to learn? Why or why not?
I understand the tradition but the lesson I didn't understand right away. Seeing what the author wanted us to get out of it, it's more clear, but I wouldn't of took that out of it right away. Towards the end of the story I came to realize it's not just about violence.

I think this story will be about people and the different mysterious things that happen to them. I think the tone that the author wants to convey to us is scary, mysterious, or unknown. Things just kind of happen and you don't even know it's happening.
