I watched a documentary film "Crip Camp" which shocked me. The story of Jim Lebrecht has been introduced first.
Then it was introduced In the 1970s in the United States, there was a camp activity for people with disabilities. Most disabled people can only sit in a wheelchair, and quite a few of them can’t control their bodies. There are volunteers in the camp who will help them. In this place, they can live like normal people. They gathered together to play guitar, singing, and revelry. If some of them want to play baseball, someone will push them in a wheelchair and run wild. Some of they even started their first love here. In this place, Their disabilities have become normal, they can boldly try things they haven't done before and freely express their opinions. Eventually, people who joined the crip camp became the strong forces to striving for the Rights of disabled people. Life in Crip Camp lets them know that they can also living a different life ，and their life can also be colorful and free. Although physical disabilities have brought them many inconveniences, they still have the right to pursue happiness and happiness. There is a possibility that they did not see before, but they have seen it here. So in the later confrontation with the government, they persist because they firmly believed that they would succeed.

The whole story is mainly talks about Juanna, a working class single mother in East Oakland, California who wishes to become a sushi chef. Juanna Martinez and her widowed dad struggle to keep a living and raise her daughter by working a series of odd-end jobs like working in a supermarket, a gym, and selling fruit in a cart. Unfortunately, one day while the cart was being closed, two armed robbers appeared, took away all her money for the day. It seems that this fruit cart won't be able to stand any longer. She started doing grunt work in a sushi shop, where the food was very unfamiliar to her. She wants to make sushi some day but the boss disagree because front sushi maker is a job only for licensed Japanese man, so Juana begin to strive for her dream. I was impressed by Juana’s brave and ambitious. First and foremost, I may never choose to work in a place with diverse culture, although I love exotic things. But Juana choose to jump out of her comfort zone. Even though she have financial burden. Secondly, she would like to do the “man’s job”. What is man ‘s job, how to define “man’s job “? I’m confusing, we are doing the job because of we like this industry, it earns more money, it seems better than the other job, but why should work be divided between men and women? Just like the situation in the movie, why the job sushi chef is the job for men? Why can’t Juana be a sushi chef? From my perspective, we shouldn’t gives job gander. Strong woman can also be a construction worker, Juana good at making sushi so of course she can be a sushi chef, sensitive men can also do the nurse or make up artist job, what’s the big deal!

Indicate of Smoke Signal

Smoke Signals is a 1998 coming-of-age comedy-drama film directed by Chris Eyre from a screenplay by Sherman Alexie, based on Alexie's short story collection The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven (1993). The film won several awards and accolades, and was well received at numerous film festivals.Thomas, a young Indian man, is a bookworm. He wears oversized glasses and enjoys telling stories to everyone, but this story is something no one wants to hear. His parents died in the 1976 fire and Thomas Arnold took care of them. Arnold quickly left his family (including his serious son Victor), who had not seen his father in 10 years. When Victor heard that Arnold had passed away, Thomas provided him with funds to retrieve Arnold's body, but Arnold emphasized that he would only return when Thomas went with him. Finally, Thomas and Victor embarked on their journey... From my perspective, The dual nature of the father refers to the dual nature of America, where heroes and demons coexist. Indigenous peoples and Christians, as the two sources of modern America, narrate a history separately, with myths, hostility, stereotypes, unreliable narrators, but also facts. The director attempted to deconstruct these histories with humor, but in the vast amount of symbolic metaphors and structural contrasts, these deconstructions seemed insufficient. Looking back more than twenty years later, its gentleness is very close soft because it has doubts, reconciliation, but no demands.

A woman’s story

I have saw this film several times, and I have to say, this film is one of my favorite film. Not only attract by Michelle Yeoh’s excellent performance, but the concept of this film is the best part.
This movie is talk about Evelyn Quan Wang, a Chinese-American immigrant who, while being audited by the IRS, discovers that she must connect with parallel universe versions of herself to prevent a powerful being from destroying the multiverse. And she were frustrated by the truth of her daughter is a lesbian and her husband trying to divorce with her. Besides, her father are also disappointed with her.
I think this movie tells the story of a woman, not just a mother, wife or daughter. At one time most of the female characters in most movies were mostly about what happened to the woman as a wife or mother. Whereas this movie is more about the heroine's complete life, not just, as a daughter, as a mother, as a wife, but the possibilities of being a woman. In the movie, she can be either a martial arts star, an ordinary person, or a scientist, and in general, this movie wants to show us the diversity of women.
And I also like the symbol of the evils— bagel. Although it is hard to define what the bagel means in the film, but I still like the use of the bagel, it add some dramatics elements to the film.
