Divided attention is where you are thinking about multiple things for example thinking where to pass the ball in football but also thinking where to make your next run and example is when your singing but also driving. Selective attention is where you're focused on a task or object for a certain period of time for example taking a penalty in football or taking a free throw in basketball

Extension
In the gym you're focused on lifting a weight for short periods of time then you will restart if its a 1rpm. An example of divided attention is when someone is motivating you you are also focused on what they're staying instead of completing the rep

Own sport
In judo you may how to switch from external narrow which is shown at the start of the fight because you have planned how you want to control the contest and only focusing on one or two ways to win but then you might have to switch to an external broad attention focus because if you're against some who has just thrown you but hasn't won you need to fight with more caution but also work faster and react to the situation there and then

selective- this is when a performer will have only 2 things to think of and it could be either listen to what the crowds are saying or focus on getting the ball in a good spot to get a good pass to a team mate. in a weight lifting environment selective could be in the world strongest men competition and you could either listen to the crowds or you could focus on dragging a bus 100meters.

divided- this is where you will have multiple things to think about such as if your in the gym and your doing multiple muscles in one session yo will have to think how they will effect each other if one gets tired such as if you are going to do chest you don't want to do shoulders before or triceps before hand. another example of this would be in a player receives the ball they will have to think where the ball is going to go and where the opposite team is and where your team is and how far from the goal you are.

internal broad- when im on the way to the gym and Im thinking of my workout and I plan what exercises im going to do in which order. then I would switch to external broad if someone Is on the smithing machine I would change the order I would do it in.

- Selective attention is when an athlete is thinking about one thing only and everything else around him/her has been disabled because they're not cautious of what's around them, but they're more concentrated on the main aspect of a goal (eg saving a penalty when the opposition fans are behind you giving you stick).
- Divided attention differs because it regards an individual to think about a host of things and what's around them plays a part into how they come across in the game (eg you have the ball but you've been tackled because you don't know what to do with it).
- Another example of selective could be the thought of the crowd cheering you on in an F1 race where the nation of your flag is being waved but instead, your more focused on finishing in the top 3.
- Divided: Making a 60-yard run through the majority of the opposition and there's the thought of passing the ball, or actually going through the whole team if the individual was to score a solo goal.
Weightlifting (S): This regards a weightlifter and instead, they aren't paying attention to what's around them and this involves the individual to be more attached to perform the deadlift rather than things outside of their performance (eg aiming for the world record).
Weightlifting (D): On the other hand, the weightlifter is more attached to the crowd where they're supporting him as well as the previous person because it might be a situation where the individual is lifting a higher weight than the previous person and they're more concentrated than beating their score.

selective- is when a performer chooses what or who to focus on or independently focuses on a area or situation an example of this maybe is when a footballer has to take a penalty kick they choose to focus on themselves and no one else until after he take s the penalty kick.
divided- is where the performer uses everyone around them to help focus on something or a certain situation an example of this would be in rugby for the passes everyone uses everyone to communicate to let them know when to go and get them to focus on the rugby ball.
both selective and divided has internal and external cores.
an eample of selective for wieght lifting is when the person is going to a dead lift they need to zone out everyone in their way so that they can concertrate on the

2ND PART
internal board: just before a match and i think about the techniques im going to use during the football match and i plan of what skills to use in order to dominate in the game
external broad: if someone is being tackled i think quickly to go and help and focus on the player that is tackling the person and switch to attack and controll the game by helping the person

selective is where your point of focus is towards one thing only and you ignore any other distractions. for example, when a footballer takes a penalty their focus is only on the where to put the ball in the net. another example is when a basketballer takes a free throw because they are only focusing on putting the ball in the net. divided attention - this is where your focus lays on more than one thing at a time. for example, a rugby player running with the ball has to focus on where his teammates are and where the opposition is so he can dodge them. another example, is when you are running with the ball in football because you will want to decide who the best option is to pass to or you might want to take on a few defenders.

Selective attention is when a performer focuses on a particular in the environment. selective attention allows us to tune out unimportant details and focus on what matters, for example, when taking a free throw in basketball, the performer will focus only on the rim because he or she is trying to score, so focusing on anything else will be in the way of that goal.
Divided attention is when our brain has the ability to attend two or more different things at the same time, for example, when dribbling a basketball, you need to look up so that you can see the court, your opponent or the person guarding you and your teammates. This requires you to multi task, attending or doing two things at the same time.

1 example might regard a game in badminton where the individual is focused on himself and his opponent and how his opponent is going to approach the game. This would be external and narrow. However, his opponent then plays a drop shot where the individual has to quickly run to the front of the court to prevent his opponent from getting the point. This allows the situation to be assessed rapidly (external and broad). Internal and broad could be the next one that's used and this could be used for the next time they play so that his opponent is worked out.
