From reading chapter 26, i learnt that galaxies can either be elliptical or spiral. Elliptical galaxies are oval shaped similar to a rugby ball. Spiral galaxies are flat in one direction and oval in the other. They have spiral arms and sometimes a bar across the centre.
Stars are giant balls of hot gas, giving out huge amounts of heat and light. Our sun is an ordinary star in our solar system. The name 'Sol' is sometimes given to our sun. There are approximately 100,000,000,000 stars.
The universe describes everything that exists, including stars, planets, galaxies and empty space.
I read about Nicolaus copernicus and how he told everyone about the way our milky way works.
There used to be ninth planet in our solar system but in 2006, the International Astronomical Union decided that it was too small to be a planet so they took it off the list.

Out there are galaxies and solar systems that might exist, even universes! Out there is the universe all around us and billions of trillions of stars, moons and planets and stars such as red giants and white dwarfs. That people have studied the structure of galaxies and have found that galaxies can be either spherical or elliptical and that some people have studied the moon and other planets for years and years. That the universe is all around us and has been here for 7 billion years. That stars are just big spheres of hot gas and that there are 8 planets in our solar system. Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Saturn, Jupiter, Uranus and Neptune.
