Camp Green Lake is a place for bad boys, because some people thought, that if you take a bad boy and make him dig a hole every day, it will turn him into a good boy. Stanley Yelnats was given a choice by the judge, go to Camp Green Lake or go to jail. He is on a bus that is going to Camp Green Lake. He is thinking about his unlucky family, including his father, his great-grandfather and his no-good-dirty-rotten-pig-stealing-great-great-grandfather. Then he finally arrived at Camp Green Lake. After he arrived at Camp Green Lake, he meets a man called Mr. Sir and he told Stanley what he needs to do every day.

Camp Green Lake is a place that has a high temperature. Camp Green Lake is a place where bad boys go to dig holes every day. It turns bad boys into good boys. Stanley was given a choice to go to jail or go dig holes at Camp Green Lake.Stanley is no his way to Camp Green Lake ,and he was thinking about his great-great-grandfather.Finally he arrived .At Camp Green Lake he meets Mr.Sir and he told him what to do every day.

When Stanley is in Camp Green Lake, he meets Mr.Pendanski and other boys in the camp. The boys all have nicknames, if Stanley didn’t call them the nicknames they will be very angry. One morning, a boy asked him what did he do to get to Camp Green Lake. He told them that he had stolen a pair of sneakers that belongs to Clyde Livingston and he also told them that why he was arrested. The decision for him was to go to Camp Green Lake. Now it is the first day digging holes at Camp Green Lake, and it is very hard for Stanley. Then it flashbacked to Stanley’s great-great-grandfather Ella Yelnats who wants to marry Myra. Elya went to Madame Zeroni, she tells him what to do with the pig and tells him about the curse. Elya doesn’t marry Myra and decides to go to America. He leaves Madame Zeroni without taking her up the mountain, so he gets cursed but he married a woman in America.

Stanley got his nickname 'Caveman' and the boys told him that the second hole is the hardest.

Mr. Pendanski said the Warden would not be interested because there are a lot of fish fossils at the bottom of the dried lake.

After Stanley found the fossil, X-Ray told him to give anything he had found. Stanley continued digging and he imagined he becomes friends with the boys and they are fighting with the bully Derrick Dunne.
