Students who took Edexcel exams for the first time in May/June 2026 need to activate their ResultsPlus account. A welcome E-mail from Edexcel was sent to students' school E-mail account, e.g. [student registration number@ss.yhkcc.edu.hk]. (NB. If you cannot find the E-mail, please check the spam folder.) Click on the link in the E-mail to complete the account creation.

The best marks, whether achieved in May/June 2026 or in May/June 2027, will be combined with the marks from the Form 6 GCE exams taken in May/June 2027 to obtain the overall A-level grade. Since the AS-level marks are worth 50% of the overall grade, it is in your best interests to maximize the AS-level marks. So, if you are able to improve your AS-level marks, you are advised to resit in May/June 2027.

Please note that, from past experience, most appeals come back with exactly the same mark.

It might be worth appealing if the mark is close to the grade boundary, but there have only been a few successful cases in the past.

In general, appealing AS-level results is not recommended. Even if there is a change in marks, it will probably only be an increase of 1 or 2 marks which will have a neligible impact on the overall A-level grade. In this situation, it is much more effective to resit the AS-level exam papers.

1. Disruption to Learning: Entering students for exams other than the May/June session can significantly disrupt Form 6 GCE lessons. This interruption can hinder the continuity of the curriculum, making it more challenging for students to grasp complex concepts and fully prepare for their final exams in May/June. The school also needs to be consistent -- if we permit one student to enter exams at this time, we have to be prepared to do this for all students, and this would be highly disruptive to Form 6 GCE lessons.

2. Mock Exam Preparation: The January/February period is typically reserved for mock exams, which are crucial for assessing students' understanding and readiness. These mocks provide valuable feedback and help identify areas needing improvement, which may be compromised if students are also preparing for external exams.

3. Increased Stress: While students may perceive that taking exams earlier will reduce overall stress, it can actually lead to heightened anxiety. The pressure of preparing for both mock exams and external assessments simultaneously can overwhelm students, potentially affecting their performance.

4. Focus on Final Exams: The May/June session is the culmination of their studies, and all efforts should be concentrated on preparing for these final exams. Spreading their focus too thin by attempting January/February exams may detract from their overall performance during the more critical assessment period.

5. Long-Term Success: The goal is not just to pass exams but to ensure students develop a deep understanding of the material. By maintaining a structured approach to learning and assessment, students are more likely to achieve long-term academic success and build a solid foundation for future studies.

The desire to ease stress is understandable, but the school's view is that the drawbacks of taking exams in the October/November or January/February sessions outweigh the perceived benefits.

If official results are requested by universities before mid-September, the school can prepare a provisional statement of results which has been certified with the school chop. Please message or email the Careers Office, 2 weeks in advance if you would like to pick up a physical certified copy by the school.

🔹 PEARSON EDEXCEL

• What to use: Use the Confirmation of Provisional Results (CoPR) service.

• When it opens: Early July for the Summer series.

• How to apply: Students or parents apply online directly via the Pearson Qualifications website.

• What you need:

  • Candidate ID + Centre Number.

  • 2 forms of Student ID (e.g., Passport + recent bank statement/utility bill) plus a signed consent form.

  • The exact university admissions email and Student Reference Number (Crucial: Edexcel can only include this reference on the delivery label!).

• Fees: ~£34 for electronic PDF delivery / ~£79 for hard copy.

🔸 CAMBRIDGE (CIE)

Most Hong Kong universities can verify Cambridge results instantly online if you grant them access, saving you time and fees.

• Method 1: Online Sharing (Free & Fastest)

  • Log into the Cambridge Candidate Results Website using your center-provided credentials.

  • Use the built-in system to choose and share your results directly with your specific HK university account.

• Method 2: Reference Number (Offline)

  • Provide your university admissions officer with your Statement of Results verification number and Date of Birth. They can look you up securely on their portal.

• Method 3: Official Hard Copy (If Required)

  • If the university explicitly demands a direct document from CIE, the student must apply for a Certifying Statement online via the Cambridge website (Form 7).
