Yes, I think the narrator is believable because of the way the text is written with very descriptive words to make things more realistic. So when you're reading you think it is actually happening in real life. When beginning the book I was already interested because of the suspense used to draw me in to read more. It made me what to read more and find out what happens in the rest of the book. I could use this in my writing to get my reader to want to read more. I think she turned a "flat" character into a more realistic person by getting us attached to the characters making us think it is realistic. Having us wanting to know more about the character and also really describing what is going on with that character makes us believe that character is real. The setting has peaked my interest because it is in a world that is "perfection" and it relates to today's society and how we live. I noticed when reading that they used a lot of vocabulary I don't usually use so it made me think of new words and what they mean in this specific text.

The narrator is the main character of the book which makes what she says more believable because we as the readers feel like we're there with her. Right off the bat I had an interest in this book because of the first three chapters: Celestine explains her life and the people in it. She talks about what happens to the "flawed" people in society. The author also includes big words that I sometimes had to look up and I think that added to their "perfect" society. When telling a joke it sounded too professional.

As I was reading the book I felt like I was Celestine; living her life with her. The author explains in detail what is happening so that the readers can create a vivid visual. As the book goes on Celestine's outlook on the "flawed" somewhat changed and that made me think about how I've done that in my own life.

Celestine has changed her perspective on the "flawed" people throughout the book. She has came to the conclusion that they're not that bad and they are just people in the end. But this has affected me because they were hated by everyone (her at one time) and now she decided to go against what everyone else thinks knowing the consequences. I just thought it was brave of her to do what she did. I think the author uses sensory detail pretty well considering through out reading I could picture things happening. I think the pace of the text was so-so. Some of the chapters were to long and others were too short and could've been explained more but, mostly enjoyable.

Celestine contradicts herself multiple times. She said that she didn't want to be flawed because she was in fact perfect. She went through something and even others were contradicting whether or not she was flawed or not. Eventually she came to a conclusion, she said "To be true to myself, I will be deemed Flawed" and so she was. Art wrote her a letter and at the end of it he said "i'm on your side". Hearing or seeing those words are comforting, I would know from experience. I don't know if I would've wanted to be flawed or if would've wanted to be perfect because I don't think that anyone is perfect and the flawed people aren't even bad people as Celestine learns so that is what has me thinking and it was also an aha moment.

One moment I really connected to Celestine was when she was having her diary read aloud when she clearly didn't want it to happen. I could understand how vulnerable she might have been feeling because we've all been there. There was many things I learned from reading this book but specifically I learned that it is always okay to be different and not do everything everyone else is doing. "Could perfection be bred?" (Ahern chapter 13). Throughout the book all they talk about is everything needs to be perfection but in reality nothing can be perfect ever, at least not for long. Something always goes wrong, doesn't go your way or in case you have flaws. Realizing that you must deal with imperfection because its apart of life.

Throughout my life I have noticed that everyone is different and when I was young I didn't quite understand it. But growing up and realizing it is normal. So that made it seem easier to connect with the book. She creates emotion by using her voice in the text. Drawing us back to the connections we made within the book creating emotion towards the characters."I feel like I can’t breathe. I haven’t felt the sting on my chest, but it’s as though psychologically I do. Pressure on my chest so immense I want to escape the constraints. I battle against them, still not making a sound. I refuse. The floor is moving. It’s rising upward. It’s going to hit me in the face." I could relate to this quote because I have dealt with anxiety in the past and still to this day and this experience for here made me think of myself. The author makes me wonder about if this life were real how would we handle it?

The authors word choice makes me think about all the vocab I don't know but the words I do know makes the story more interesting and gives the characters emotion. My experience that helped me identify the content is when I started to become friends with different types of people. I usually just talked to my little group of people but I realized that I was gonna have to talk to new people in school because I knew that not all my friends were gonna be in every single one of my classes. Just like Celestine I found out that different people aren't that different after all. Being yourself is hard Celestine found that out in chapter 21 when she says "To not be deemed Flawed, I must betray the old man on the bus. To be true to myself, I will be deemed Flawed". I used half of this quote in round 3 but it really impacted me because she had to question what she was going to do. I myself do that same thing everyday. I feel like I can’t breathe. I haven’t felt the sting on my chest, but it’s as though psychologically I do. Pressure on my chest so immense I want to escape the constraints. I battle against them, still not making a sound. I refuse. The floor is moving. It’s rising upward. It’s going to hit me in the face.

To Maddy's Round 4: I agree with her opinion on the author's word choice giving me new words I haven't really seen/used before.
To Maddy's Round 2: I didn't feel as I was living her life but I for sure created visuals on what it'd be like to do so.
To Maddy's Round 3: I agree with her saying that Art's note to Celestine was in fact "comforting" because in that time of difficulty she needed people in her life to support her and that note did just that.
